Windows 7 64 Bit (2.94GB RAM Available)

Is this a new install? I vagulely remember when I first installed W7 I had a similar problem where not all of the ram was available. I think what fixed it for me was:

Administrative Tools -> System Configuration -> Boot tab -> Advanced Options -> make sure Maximum Memory is unticked (while you're there, make sure Number of Processors in unticked too)

[edit] to be honest, my first thought was that you only have 32 bit windows installed and have a 1GB graphics card - it's definately 64bit? (sorry if this is condescending :) )

both unticked. 4GB Ram installed(2.94gb useable) is what it says.

I did edit my post, but you may have missed it:

also, where exactly does it say 2.94gb usable ?

its definetly 64 Bit, and it says 2.94 gb right click computer- properties, where it says 64 bit operating system. Sapphire HD 5850 1GB is my GPU.

interesting, you might want to post your full system specs, in particular your motherboard, perhaps it needs a bios update. Also, if you open task manager, go to the performance tab, then click on the resource monitor button, you can see more detailed information in the resource monitors memory tab, might be worth having a look at.

q6600 @ 2.4 ghz
5850
4 gb ram (2.94gb usable)
windows 64
foxconn motherboard (rubbish, oem, cant overclock)

Reseat your RAM, reseat your processor (don't just glaze over these, actually do it, specifically look at your processor and socket), if a bios update doesn't sort you I bet it's a bent pin.

how about the memory remapping feature in the bios (if you have that option), is it enabled?

I'll second this ... had a similar problem the other day when upgrading a box from 2GB to 4GB ... system would only see ~3GB of it despite running a 64bit OS and despite the hardware supporting 4GB according to the specs. Eventually found that this setting had to be set in the BIOS, after spending a couple of hours trying other things, and all was OK.
