i have 4gb (2x2) DDR2 memory in my machine, however its only recognising 2.94 gb of ram, how do i get rid of this and allow it access to the full 4gb of RAM.
One stick in one stick outVice versa.
dont get you mate, care to elaborate.
Is this a new install? I vagulely remember when I first installed W7 I had a similar problem where not all of the ram was available. I think what fixed it for me was:
Administrative Tools -> System Configuration -> Boot tab -> Advanced Options -> make sure Maximum Memory is unticked (while you're there, make sure Number of Processors in unticked too)
Need more info on the rest of your machine, are you using an integrated graphic chip?
I did edit my post, but you may have missed it:
[edit] to be honest, my first thought was that you only have 32 bit windows installed and have a 1GB graphics card - it's definately 64bit? (sorry if this is condescending )
also, where exactly does it say 2.94gb usable ?
interesting, you might want to post your full system specs, in particular your motherboard, perhaps it needs a bios update. Also, if you open task manager, go to the performance tab, then click on the resource monitor button, you can see more detailed information in the resource monitors memory tab, might be worth having a look at.
is your BIOS right up to date, I was having the same problem but an update sorted that right out.
how about the memory remapping feature in the bios (if you have that option), is it enabled?
