What possible reason would a company like Converse have to sell them so cheap to people they know are simply going direct to Ebay to undermine and undercut the official distribution channels?
I work for an agency who're in charge of brand distribution, our showrooms also happen to be in the same block as Superdry and Bench (Ardwick Green, Manchester for what it matters). When it's end of season, we sell off all of our old samples. When there's sometimes 50 odd items in a seasons range it's easy enough to make a tidy profit. With one brand we actually sell ex-samples for £20 per pair, which when we're given them for free isn't something you can moan at!
I can also tell you that, especially with Superdry, the lads will pop in and let us know they're selling off their samples when it's end of season. It's commonplace. Otherwise you're just left with a tonne of old season samples which are absolutely no use to us whatsoever.
