Some sweet flying Delboy. Joystick or mouse + kb?
I find flying much easier with a joystick but I cannot for the life of me aim with the bloody thing.
Yup, keyboard and mouse for the choppers.
Some nice moves there, though i feel that if spotted properly your biggest problem would be a competant tanker even if you've reduced the time on target for AA threats.
Just curious but are you using a Stick/Keyboard/Mouse?
I find I last longer being on the deck at 20 feet or lower. You're right, a competent tank can rip you a new one if you come across them but I find jets can't get you as easily unless they're really determined and I think often they give up and start after the easier targets at 50 feet and above, especially when you bank and turn quickly. I've lost count of the number of jets trying to strafe me and end up crashing into the ground/tower/building trying to get a shot on me
Stingers are a non-issue as they can't lock on quick enough as you're behind trees or buildings, especially on a map like Caspian, Kharg to to certain extent as well and I often dip down close to the shore. Firestorm on the other hand is a bit trickier as there is little cover for a chopper so ducking in and out of the building and gas/power plant seems to work ok.
A lucky rpg shot could take you down I guess but I've not had it happen to me yet. Mostly I find in the heat of battle my main concern is clipping a tower or one of the those annoying metal light gantries that are tough to see.
The other downside to flying quick and low is your gunner only has a few seconds on target before you've flown past so it's better to have them in comms so you can pre-warn them about a tank or infantry coming up. They also find it tougher to get ground locks using their missile at that altitude.
Getting higher (40 feet) lets you see where targets are and lets the gunner squeeze of an air-to-ground missile/tv missile and some auto rounds before heading back down to the deck.
