new macbook pro pre-registered?

Guys, help me out as I have a bit of moral dilemma...
I digged bit more to where from this mac came from, and now am 100% that this one was a lost parcel( delivered to wrong place and never asked for).
So it was 'lost' for over a year, no one ever came to look for it, so I would assume that either Apple or most likely delivery company, covered the cost of the new one that was delivered in its place.
I planned to sell it, but have second thoughts...
Apple said its fine( not marked on their database as stolen or anything) ..
If I sell it, amd then something comes out of it, don't want to get in trouble...
I know that known auction site has a option that returns are not accepted after item gets sold but there may be more to that..
What you guys think....what would you do in my place...

If Apple has given the laptop the green light to you Sell it on if thats what you want to do :)

thanks,
Will get in touch with them by email, and ask them to confirm in writing that this item is fine, so when I sell it, and apple changes their mind, I will have a proof...

Well the delivery company would have covered the cost if it was "lost" but what makes you 100% certain it was a lost parcel?

no one ever came back looking for it ?
all other equipment found on premisses had address of the company that went bust...

this one had a torn off label with only part of the address and it was assumed its not for them. Companies on the premisses were informed and no one claimed it...all comapnies that were there last year moved somewhere else.

By that count then it's more than ok. you've had green lights from every reasonable angle imo, and you were given it in exchange for helping out right? So I see it as payment to you and there is no reason to worry about it.

Will get in touch with Apple.
Will ask them if they can trace serial number to buyer or maybe a shop that sells Apple.
Will go from there.
They should have a record of all machines shouldn't they?

Now that you know its not genuine (I have my doubts you didnt know at the start) you need to take reasonable steps to find the original owner. If one does not come forward, you can keep it and have a good defence against an allegation of theft in the future
