Motorbike Crash but I'm Alive

As a fellow biker, the rage that you feel when someone just doesnt see you is insane, i nearly got wiped out on my ER6 last month with the guy just shrugging his shoulders, it would have been a similar crash to yours had it happened.

Good to hear you are okay, theres been enough biking tragedy on the forums this year.

Engineer came round to assess the damage today, He reckons it'll be a total loss & I'll hear by the end of the week, Seems a bit quick to me.
Anybody had a cut & dry claim like mine who can let me know how long it took. In all my years I've never had a single claim before. but

I got paid out in 3 weeks, the assessor drove past my house, saw how ****** my car was and 2 weeks later I had a cheque.

Just the valuation can be a bit of an arse if they're arguing over how much the bike is worth.

If the assessor is sure you're on the level, it's likely they will pay out quickly. I've made one claim on insurance - they paid in under 3 days. Dragging it out uses their resources and puts off their customer and everyone their customer speaks to, so it can cost them money both now and in the future. It's easy to get prices from a comparison website, but when it comes to how the insurer behaves in the event of a claim, people ask people they know.

Blimey can't believe I missed this, glad to hear you're ok Malc! Where abouts was the accident? Local? You'll have to drive the polo with the sticker in the back about fat chicks... :p

:p It's a Golf estate & the girl over the road bought me the sticker so I had to stick it in the window. :)
Accident happened on Blaby road which is the road the Next building is in, I'd just gone over the M69 & the |Dude pulled out of the sportsground/college entrance. :(

I'm glad it'll be sorted sharpish as I've got my eye on a few bikes as it is, Can't wait to get a 2 stroke back on the road. :D

Every cloud has a Silver lining. :)

I am now in Shopping mode looking for either another NS125F or NS125R or a Foxeye NSR125 as then I'll be able to transfer all my good bits over & have nigh on a whole bike for spares.
If I can't get what I want then I'm going to buy either a Cagiva Mito Evo I or II or an Aprillia RRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D

I Love shopping for toys. :D

Not read the whole thread, but glad you're okay OP.

Saying he didn't see you is a bit daft...I mean...all you have to do is stop...I mean STOP, and look. Granted he might have been blined but then he should have taken longer to pull out.

Too many people just pull out of roads without slowing down properly...See it all the time and they just end up slamming there breaks on :o

I'm just waiting for a fella to come out & check the damage/do an estimate/quote. This will be the second bloke.
The guys insurance has already offered me a reasonable amount for my injuries which I've accepted. Everybody I've spoke to tells me to refuse the first offer & push for more which just goes to show how ****** up this Insurance compo culture really is. I think the amount they've offered is fair so I've accepted, It's not much but it'll get me new leathers, boots, Gloves & a decent helmet & there'll be a few quid left over for some winter warmers or summit bike associated.
Hopefully once this dude puts in his report we can get a quick deal sorted out for my bike repairs/replacement.

My brothers just had an accident on his bike, some blind woman just turned and cut him up and he planted right into the rear side of her car. Spent the evening in hospital with him while they patched him up, luckily just a broken ankle and wrist and a few cuts and bumps.
Spoke to the copper who was on scene and the woman was already charged with driving with undue car and attention so now hes just going through the process of claiming. Must say though he is not a happy bunny as gets very little sick pay and his job is all manual labour so is unable to do anything and has just been giving a 200 quid bill from the police as they have been holding his vehicle that he has to pay now or be faced with the 200 quid plus a disposal charge, not what you want days after a crash!

I was lucky that a local took my bike to his house & I was able to borrow a van & go pick it up myself the next day. One thing this accident has done is really restored my faith in human nature. The locals, Car drivers, Paramedics, Ambulance crew, Police & my Doctors & Nurses were Fabulous.

Bloke been & had a much better look around than the last Dude, Not only that he seemed more bike orientated. He reckons they'll probably write it off. He looked around my Yard & said you're obviously a handy bloke so you'll end up with a bike for free that you can repair quite easily. :)

Not bad, i think my bro was looked after up until they dropped him off at the hospital and left him for over 2 hours on the back brace fully strapped up at the end of a ward. Not good when he has some pretty bad irritable or temper issues. 4 hours later he got an xray and check up. Other than that everyone else was alright, just wish the police would have mentioned before hand they would be charging him for taking his bike and that he had to pay with his own cash and not wait for his pay out as the poor bloke has no cash!

Good, glad it's not going to leave you out ot pocket. My worst nightmare is always not being able to replace like for like.

I got a cheque Saturday for 1500 quid for my compo/Injuries, I accepted the first offer as I thought it was more than fair.
Still waiting for them to decide on an offer for my bike but I'm well impressed at how quick they sorted my compo cheque out.

My 1500 quid compo cheque cleared yesterday & then I opened an envelope today with a cheque for my bike in it, They gave me 600 quid kept 30 quid so I keep my bike & get 570 more quids. +
All in all it's worked out more than fair & come at a fantastic time.

Looking back on it the main feeling is that I'm pretty well chuffed with how my body handled it, Being my age I thought I might snap a bit easier.

Moral of the story Wear every single bit of decent kit you can, My helmet saved my Jaw, My back protector & armour & leathers did there job, I walked away without a scratch & just some Heavy groin & wilf bruising. Looking up at the figures I'll be able to buy brand new decent kit all round & a decent bike. :)

I'm going to look at an 03 JC22 tomorrow. :p
