The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

UPDATE: I started a new game and that seemed to work, so I saved after the intro (the second time round it's sooo much longer!) and I tried loading that game - it worked.

I tried loading my original game again and it crashed.

I then tried loading a game from half-way through my play, and it worked.

I worked back from my most up-to-date save until I found one that works. I didn't realise editing the .ini files affected the saves, as all my saves beyond when I edited the .ini for a second time were corrupted and wouldn't load. I assumed that by restoring the .ini file I would restore the game back to where it should be. When I had tried loading alternate saves initially, I just hadn't gone far enough back to before my .ini tweak so I was still trying broken ones.

This was the thread that I followed, and it ruined my saves. Just be aware, people!

So luckily I don't have to start a new character!

Thanks for all those who gave helpful suggestions!

Is it particularly worth becoming a werewolf?

I don't particularly fancy the hassle that comes with it, but it appears necessary to progress a certain storyline.

I don't know what the other poster is referring too but yes i wondered the same, seems a bit bizarre its given to you so easy considering there was a whole expansion pack for Morrowind on the issue of werewolves, feels a bit we need to get werewolves in the game somehow, lets do this.

Anyone else using a controller? Ain't it AWESOME when a dragon flies over head or lands nearby?!! (Because of the force feedback)

I was a werewolf and I used it like once. Didn't see much point as you cannot interact with anything...

Spoiler tag isn't working dont look below.

At the end of the companions quest you get the option to get rid of the werewolf curse.

How hard is that mission with the silver hands as well, where you go clear out that camp after becoming a warewolf for the first time, that guy with the fire sword is really tough, i have had to come out and go do other things, never going to kill him at my current level, but it means i have that girl following me round all the time now.

really? thats easy isnt it.
The fire guy was tougher than the rest but still easy, depends what your speccing in I guess.

I found the boss on one of the side quests where you have to steal plans to be much much tougher

I dunno.. i am a two handed redguard, with a silver greatsword, also leveled archery, blacksmith, sneak, and alchemy at level 15

Not really gone for a type of armor yet, wearing part light elven armor, with a heavy armor helmet, and some boots that give me 20% extra sneak.

He just owns me in a couple of hits, as i was leaving i thought maybe i should have tried using some resist fire potions, seem to be able to stand my ground in most situations.

I killed him once by knocking him down and clawing him to death as the werewolf, but then someone killed me once i had killed him with an arrow lol

I stumbled across this place and massacred them all. Guessing I won;t be getting that mission then.

amazingly simple to edit the textures , i lack the skills to improve the blurry messes most of the textures are though :(

btw the actual cow texture doesnt look that bad in photoshop so it must be the actual mesh model that has all the wierd overlapping edges

Loving the game at the moment. Been hooked on smitthing (just reached orcish armor!). Just joined companions too, so gonna go do some missions and see what else I can level up.

Got attacked by two bears yesterday so I ran... into a dragon. The bears and dragon had a barney and a giant waded in and started smashing the dragon's head. I stood back and knocked off a few arrows to finish the job, got its soul and scales and skinned the crispy bears. Giant wandered off into the sunset.

Unreal.

Only in Skyrim.

My personal GOTY so far, blows everything else I've played out of the water.

haha yeh, I was fighting my 3rd dragon and in the middle of it a giant wondered in and started attacking the dragon. Naturally I legged it until their fight had come to an end. not messing around with those big boys.

Need find an easy way to get gold though took me ages to save for a house and now I need to pimp it out lol. I have it maxed out and it looks amazing chuffed to bits with it.
