The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Just realised there was a choice at the start between going with the imperial or going with the storm cloack guy. I would have preferred to go imperial.

Do i have to join the stormcloack rebellion now?

I have a must see picture in my steamcloud that I would probably get into a lot of trouble for posting here :p

No its not a nude mod, or anything like that ... Maybe search my name on steam or something to see it :)

I dont know how to either :(

How can I direct people to a troublesome picture I have on Steam without getting into trouble .... hmmmmmmm

Ok, go into steam > community > search for user 'console derp', look at my screenshots (only two in there), open the thumbnail that looks like a book to view in full screen.

Just hit 24 hours total time played, oblivion was an amazing game but skyrim is in another league!.I have just spent last two hours in a dungeon trying to complete a quest and didn't realize (it felt like 10 minutes.) I can see this getting goty, its so bloody good :)

Got in a productive couple of hours play after getting home from work. Cleared out the dungeon to complete my trial for the Companions. Unlocked the new fire blast shout. It totally owned against the waves of undead guys that popped out at the end. Also made a ton of gold from selling all the silver swords and other loot, meaning I could buy the Whiterun house and fully furnish it :D

Exactly what i have been doing all night, house was expensive just needs some nice furniture to pimp it out.Was a really good dungeon i thoroughly enjoyed it.

How? I have a quest that says join the stromcloak rebellion but nothing about the imperial?

You'll get it somewhere along the line.

I chose to go imperial at the start and wandering around Skyrim was some NPC's holding a prisoner and carting him off somewhere, I killed the people trying to take him off and then set him free and it gave me the quest to join Stormcloak, so I assume there is a way also to go Imperial if you chose Stormcloak at the start.

Just read that you can get the plain fortify destruction enchantment off of rings, necks and circlets instead of the weaker dual stat from robes meaning you can enchant 4 pieces of gear with it @25% each for zero mana cost spells :p

You can join whoever you want in terms of imperial/stormcloak, you just have to visit the relevant faction capital and find the right NPC. You don't even need a quest.

On a side note, I am quite annoyed to discover that it seems every unique item in the game, both weapons and armor, is leveled, which means if you pick up a good unique weapon at a level below say 35, it will slowly degrade is usefulness.

This was a **** system in Oblivion and I have no idea why they decided to continue with it, it makes the few unique weapons in the game a BAD idea to get before late, late late game so are of a sufficient level to trigger the most powerful version.

Hopefully some helpful member of the community will take it upon themselves to make a mod fixing this god awful idea Bethesda had like they did in Oblivion.

Looking for some aim as to what to do really. Just started done the escape bit i followed the bloke to some tiny village, sold off some crap i gathered on the way to this place oh and i picked warrior thing from the stone. Kinda stuck what to really do with myself now. I dont really like or should i say im not good at not being guided in games i like to follow a path and not just wonder about lol as id like to be aiming for stuff and doing stuff with a natural progression to the end game.

Im suppose to go to whitburn or whatever its called to see someone as the blokes dad the blacksmith asked me to go to see someone about getting soldiers sent to the place i am rivendale or somit. But wondering if theres anything to do first in the place im at while im here. Also is there anything good to buy or interact with someone i should while im here?

Btw whats the best fov to use for 24in tft at 1920x1080? I think i used 75 or 80 in the ini file. But i just guessed if that was right, i duno what would be best or should i say what most use.

I'm using 85 on a 1920*1200 res, anything higher looks off.

In terms of direction, its really up to you, you can do the main story line or branch out, there are several "guilds" or factions you can join, each of which has its own main quest chain and various side quests, there's the Companions, the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, could join a side and do the Civil War quests, none of these are directly related to the main quest but all have a very set direction and progression.

For finding out if there's anything to do in your current location, just talk to NPCs, that's pretty much it, very often you will overhear things whilst wandering about which assuages some of the difficulty in finding side quests. Always talk to innkeepers as well and ask if they have heard any rumours, nearly always get a few quests of misc objectives from the,.
