Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Think some maps need more AA def, think it was Caspian border rush and I spent 2 rounds with the sky as my personal playground, enemy pilots were either absent in presence or IQ and the Frogfoot/A-10 made absolute mincemeat of their armour. Their only hope were stingers and through diving attacks and flares I didn't get hit once.
I've seen this on a few maps, think it's mainly the 1's with the Frogfoot/A-10, but unless your team pilots are up to the job, your kinda at their mercy.

I don't know a solution and I'd hate to see all the maps full of mobile AA's, least the plane rape isn't nowhere near as bad as BF2/1942 :p

I was playing a round of Caspian last night and I was in the AA but I seem to be the only person bothered trying to take out the enemy planes and helicopters.

They were 3 damn good pilots with massive amounts of unlocks and they just kept ripping my AA to peices.

I think I got each of the once to them killing me 6 or 7 times each :(
 
I'd agree with that, the AA is pretty lethal as it is.

I normally fly with flares, rocket pods and air radar. I don't use heatseekers (gives the game away to soon!) and the guided missile is rubbish, so although beam scanning is handy I'm not so keen on the unlocks which go with it.

Not so sure. I used to rule the skies on any level with my AA (75% unlocked) and rack up massive k/d and points and used to be Ace player most games until I came up against two pilots who knew what they were doing last night.

They raped me over and over again.:(
 
Still enjoying the game though still awaiting some updates to fix the unbalances.

E.g.

- Constant Mortars
- Recon over powered
- A few bugs, e.g. dead player bug a few pages back

Mortar bug is a pain, if you switch between shell and smoke you can rapid fire the mortar :( also servers should have a limit of 2 or 3 mortars per team, playing Damavand on Rush last night we could not get down the hill a they had 11 mortars pounding the ground was mental!

yeah mortars on metro at the first set of mcoms on either side is a pain as well
 
Good games last night with you guys in the squad but my K/D took a battering as I was playing more for the squad/team rather than getting a good K/D.

Which is what you're supposed to do in the first place. Where does this K/D fetish of everybody come from? Is it some kind of alpha male feature I am lacking?
 
you think back to karkland will be big im not so sure

a lot of purists will either love or hate it . i can see it being marmite myself.

this game is pretty deent but does have me thinking when ranking is done then what .
 
Did Karkland in BF2 have air support? Can't remember.
Is it the one where one team can easily get massacred trying to leave their base as their is a hill in front which they can get picked off, with a big lake to the left (where a checkpoint is?

edit: nvm.....just googled it....aah yes, i remember that one......snipers paradise from the hills on the left.

Do you play recon? The only time a recon can shine is on an infantry only server. Pretty much useless class for a lot of things, all you can do is spot and kill a few infantry a minute. Assault can kill twice as much and keep people alive. Whilst support can take down snipers, resupply, and take out vehicles. We all know what engies can do (/rpginface).

Just nice to be positive. I had almost got it up to 1 after starting out at 0.6 in the early days. Last night I must have had 100 deaths to about 20 kills.:eek:
 
Had a few rounds on Smogsy's server for the first time last night, was good fun. Me and my mate normally just pub it and squad up together....but I felt last night that there was a focal point, something to aim for... Even got called "dirty" by blaplad (sp?) cos I C4'd him (and myself!) on the East bridge on Seine crossing...lol

Added to faves now and will look into this mumble malarky.

Is it the one where one team can easily get massacred trying to leave their base as their is a hill in front which they can get picked off, with a big lake to the left (where a checkpoint is?

Karkand didn't have air vehicles from what I remember, it was just tanks and jeeps. And I only remember a river/lake of any sort next to the trainline base... My memory is so poor.

could be a campers paradise if the sides were uneven, will be even more so now with all the unlocks available, usmc is gonna be hard :(.

Agree, i'm not looking forward to Kark now i've seen some of the in game vids, feel its going to spoil some great memories :(.

yeah topgun, it was to the right, had to cain the apc's over the hill and down the bank, then get back in the play zone before dying, least it allowed a decent way to get to the mec back base if their commander wasnt watching to closely :)
