They need all the help they can get

Why are you looking at this as a one way trade? Tescos get extra bodys which tbh probably need supervision so it will cost them, they get people to do work for 'free' but the person doing the work gets on the job experience and still paid JSA, it's hardly a one way transaction.

So a 3/4 mile trip each way, per day. Yeah, real hard.

I walked more than that going to Secondary School. That's like "just down the road" distance.

It's not even that, it's about 1.5miles a day. I walk that to go and get my food from the supermarket. I walk that to get to work. 10 miles a week is nothing.

I lived on a council estate for 28 years of my life . Both my parents worked and taught me good values. My nextdoor neighbours were the epitome of what is generally described here.

They didn't work, they both smoked like chimneys, they did actually have a better TV / Car / Clothes / Social life for themselves and their kids than me or my parents ever had, and the kicker it was funded through the tax payer of which my parents were both. So my parents worked hard to put bread on our table and give us the basics we needed while getting taxed for the scum next door to have better of everything than we did for free ?

You social justice for all, left types actually make me want to puke considering I have seen it first hand.
So to solve this you want to drive down wages of people like your parents - while I support increasing the wages of people like your parents to make work always pay.

Cool story bro.

which is the inequality of opportunities in life.

I'm not sure I entirely agree with that. People always have the choice and the opportunity to apply themselves and excel, it's just that many do not for a whole raft of reasons. Lack of opportunities/inequalities of these opportunities isn't a driving factor. Everyone is able to go to school and get a decent education.

how is getting JSA claimants to work for companies for 8 weeks driving down wages ? As pointed out earlier companies will not be able to run with 8 week turnaorund times if they reduced normal staffing levels to fill positions with 8 weekers.

regarding the cool story bro comment... kiss my arse, I was there and had live with that crap everyday, so do one 'bro'

Agreed. But even if you work for McDonalds flipping burgers, you are still contributing to society. And I'm not talking about the primitive fact that you are producing food stuffs for the populace here. I am talking about the fact that you are contributing the economy, GDP growth n all that good stuff. A person in work, whether public or private company, is *by definition* contributing to society. The more you earn, the more you are contributing. Not just in income tax, but in the fact that surely some of your earnings will be then spent as disposable income.... such as buying a car, a bike, a big TV, an Xbox, a nice watch... whatever it is. Employed people are what keeps the entire world going round.

So...

Nobody has bad parents?

No schools are bad in the UK?

No areas are poor & crime ridden?

Nobody has negative influences during development (alcoholic parents).

No child is abused?

Are you really this stupid to think that everybody in the UK get's equality of opportunity?

Um, they get their benefits stripped if they quit...

It give you the idea of work, what it's all about, arriving on time, sticking to schedules, doing work, applying yourself regardless how remedial the task.

Some might see work out of it at the end, other can put it down as works experience and use Tescos as a reference for future jobs.

So yes a total waste of time.

But some young people can't see past the end of their nose and instead will say zomg i'm not working for nothing.

Are you really this stupid to think that everybody in the UK get's equality of opportunity?

So what do you want equal opportunity for all?
