The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Just got properly stuck into the Dark Brotherhood chain....all I can say is wow! Didn't think it would outshine the chain in Oblivion, but...wow!

Still in love with this game.

Is anyone else playing through thinking "Could do this, this and this all differently?" or "I could do this again as XXXX"

I can see myself replaying this game a lot :p

I'm a warrior and I use magic a lot too. I have a massive urge to play through this as an assasin type sneaky person who steals everything.

In Oblivion you got in by killing an innocent person. Dunno about Skyrim.

In skyrim, the Dark Brotherhood quest line begins with a quest you get from an innkeeper, it's rather direct and a bit silly if I'm honest, I much preferred the Oblivion method. The following quest however....that's interesting.

Read on the Official Bethesda Forums earlier today that someone runs the program through the desktop icon rather than launching Steam and then running the program - apparently it sorted out their random crashes to desktop.

So I decided to do the same. Created a desktop Icon and then ran the game from there - it stated that it was connecting to Steam, but didn't fire up the Steam window.

4 hours later - not one single crash to desktop. The last time I played the game (3 days ago) I was averaging three or four crashes to desktop.

Computer is exactly the same - same drivers, same settings - Skyrim setting haven't been altered either.

So far a good result - wonder if there is a glitch between Skyrim and the Steam interface?

My gf is playing Skyrim right now but she's got a little problem. It seems that when the game is trying to load a new area when she's walking around and it hangs for 5 seconds or so. Anyone know how to fix that?

Just a random note, there's a quest in Windhelm called "Blood on the Ice", no spoilers but I would highly recommend to anyone not doing this quest until they can patch it, or if you need to do the quest now then I'd recommend following this guide as it's an extremely buggy quest and can/will royally screw stuff up.

How do I apply my perks? Like, in my screenshot, what am I supposed to do, as it says perks to increase: 3.

Everytime I turn on my PC, the first time I load up Skyrim the game freezes when I attack. I then have to close it through task manager but then everytime I load up Skyrim after that it's fine, it only happens the first time I load it up after a cold boot. Anyone else have this problem or heard of it before?

EDIT: It only happens when I'm using a 360 pad. This thing is causing me so many headaches :(.

You need to manually pick the previous perks, and then Mystic Binding.

You also need to have enough Conjuration to meet the requirement, which you do have.

You apply perks by going to the tree you want to put the points in, going to the particular ability you want and click the activate button to confirm the point being spent there.

A couple of things. It shows you how many skill levels you need for each ability to apply a point there. So if you only have lvl 20 2 handed weapon skill for example, and the ability needs level 40, you cant apply the perk yet. Also the higher nodes need to be unlocked by spending points in the lower nodes to unlock the higher branches. Thats to stop you only spending 1 perk point in a tree to get the best ability and skip the rest.

Ah right, I wasn't pressing my E activate button. Thanks guys.
