The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I was given a 'friend' after killing the first dragon, should I be taking her around with me. I left her in the house (no sexist comments please) but during my mage training I saw a message that she was tired of waiting and had left. :(

Thinking about it she could have helped when I came across four necromancers all healing themselves.

Andi.

I think you shot yourself in the foot there. Lydia is invaluable as a companion. She has a magic staff, bow and arrows and is good with a sword too. She has saved my hide on a number of occasions. Even just having her charge in so that the enemies focus in on her, allowing you to skirt around and get close enough to attack.

Did you leave her in a house you owned? If not try going back to Dragonreach. Hopefully she should be there waiting for you.

You can find many other companions. Check out Whiterun inn. If I need to do stuff alone or perhaps I'm about to start a quest that will provide me with a companion I just tell my current companion that we're parting ways. They seem to always eventually end back at the place you initially recruited them and are willing to follow you again.

Haha :D

Left her in my house ;-) I'd better go and find her.

In my life I have played my way Through

Arena
Daggerfall
Battlespire
Redguard (mmmm 3dfx Glide :D)
Morrowind (+Tribunal & Bloodmoon)
Oblivion (+Shivering Isles -I don't count KotN as full expansion :p)

and I have to say Skyrim is easily the best and most successful TES release Bethesda have ever made. It's years since I've had so much fun just playing a game and seeing where it takes me. Even the odd bug (after all it is a Bethesda release :D) doesn't detract from it in anyway!

She's pretty hard ass as well, the only time she has died on me is when getting in the way of my battle axe, silly bint!

What the hell, if your companion is also a skill trainer, if you learn skills then trade with them you can get your money back.

I've a dog as a companion for a bit. Bator I think it was called he was really annoying kept shoving me and getting in the way so I gave him back to his master, although he didnt seem to want him, I got a pretty neat mask though.

Ok, I really want to get this now. One thing I would like to ask here is will playing with a controller be a lot worse than keyboard and mouse?

30 hours of play and not a single crash for me!

Lucky you. I've had about 3 or 4 CTD in total. Also occasionally get weird lag spikes for no apparant reason. Can happen inside or outside, in or out of combat. Once I close the game and open it again though, the lag is completely gone. I'm convinced its a bug of some sort.

I've a 360 controller, but haven't gave it a go yet, keyboard and mice have been fine. You can turn mouse acc on and off through the .ini file to suit your tastes. Although get used to using wasd and e for the in-game menus, they're awful with the mouse :).

I know the k+m will be better (hotkeys etc), but I really want to be able to sit back and play and not have to be at my desk.
