Sorry for slightly delayed stats and not having investigated the missing big tiffys yet, I blame it all on BF3! It's stealing what little free time I have

I will get round to it though, just as soon as I level up the damn planes...

Ok after typing that I felt bad about not fixing the tiffys, the problem was I never envisaged anyone getting over 100 million! I've added an extra zero to the script so that should keep you going for a little while

My PPD has dropped more than expected - due to lack of BigAdv's

Anyone else having problems getting them?

My i7 2600k and i7 860 not had any for over a week (i think)...........

Aorry if i've missed anything already explaining this

No lack of bigadv here but i have read the same problem on several other sites

Thanks for the news update. You guys might have noticed my name spring back up. Once again I find myself in a place with no heating so my computers get an extra job

Looks like i7 users are SOL on BigAdv. Neither of my i7 chips will pick them up any more, either on Windows or Linux

. Nevermind, at least it's keeping the room warm

i've just started folding on my i7 920 using gpu tracker and it's not picking up bigadv units it keeps picking up normal smp. is there anyway to force it to get bidadv ?

Re bigadv and bigger-bigadv (bigbeta) WU's

Quad G34 - Had a spate of 3 6901's in a row for two days and didn't seem to be able to get a 6903 or 6904 but just left it and it picked up a 6903 yesterday afternoon. Not sure what the problem was, but I had been having some failures when trying to restart WU's that weren't engaging dynamic load balancing and PPD was dropping. I'd ctl-C the client but then it wouldnt be able to restart. So I guess after this happened a couple of times I dropped below the threshold of returns:errors and lost access till I returned a couple more.

As of right now I have a 6903 on the G34, plus a 6903 on the 2600K and a 6903 on the 970X, however I have a 6901 on the SR-2 for some reason.

Not sure if its statistically relevant or just a glitch on b0rkely's end.

yeah i've was using this machine months ago. it's overclocked to 4.2 so that shouldn't be the problem, i'm happy to run normal smp's but if i can make the most of what i'm using that would make me happier.

I recently set my i7 to do bigadv too, just so I could fold a few before they're not available for 8 thread systems any more, and I haven't had any bigadv units yet, think it's been set to bigadv for about a week.
Been folding SMP fine though, so I'm not too bothered, hopefully more bigadv will be available soon.

Check your memory, to get bigadv you need to have at least 2GB free for standard ones and 2.8GB free for the 6903/6904

I have 24 GB

with a 15GB RAMdrive set aside for games, right now I'm sitting at 6GB free.

No idea then, other than make sure you have the latest client. 6.34 or 7.x

Are you folding on windows or Linux? All my rigs are either Linux or Linux in a VM.

One rig just returned a 6903 and got another one a few minutes ago.

Definitely on the latest client, and I'm folding on Windows. I've tried for a few days with and without the -advmethods switch too just to see what happened but that made no difference.
Very odd.
Not that it's a huge deal, just odd that some people can get them fine and some can't get any heh.

Just got pipped for 3rd place on the weekly dumpage :mad:

Didn't help that one of my hex cores dumped a 6903 and the other 6904 some way in, one of them had been stable for months, very strange, but I've given them a bit more juice so hopefully all's well now.
I'm just putting my new 2700K media PC through its paces (here if anyone's interested

) I might try the core hack on it just for testing, hopefully then, with the right WUs and the wind behind me I should do 250K+ ppd :cool:

And Biffa, I forgot about the 2.8GB for the 6903 & 6904's - which explains lack of them on the 2600k. The memory I had went pooof!!! so swapped in 4GB (not enough for bigbigadv's) - this has since been rectified.

Hopefully from now on I should see an improvement (albiet until the bigadv's become unavailbe to anything less than 16 cores).

So....... lets see if I can make an impression......

What WU's have you been getting?

Definitely don't do -advmethods and -bigadv switches together, just stick with -bigadv

It might be that you still have to do 10 SMP units again because of how long its been since you folded. Also to keep getting the bonus point WU's you have to successfully return >=80% of assigned WU's.

So if you are ending non bigdav WU's becuase you are not getting them, you are shooting yourself in the foot because you will quickly drop below the 80% threshold and stop getting them or bonuses for any you do have.
