I think the BNP should open their own supermarkets; white bread only, then the anal retentive members can all feed their suffering from nationalistic foodstuffs.

What a stupid comment.

Since when have heterosexuals been persecuted? They're celebrating their sexuality, and the fact that they are fortunate to live in a time where it's relatively safe to be openly gay and not face persecution, torture, ridicule or death.

I'm more concerned that there are still plenty of people with anti-homosexual attitudes, people who would normally call themselves reasoned and enlightened and many homosexuals in the world still suffer from the aforementioned persecution. :rolleyes:

In fact, straight people are not excluded in any way from attending a gay pride parade, should they want to do so.

Maybe the reason why straight pride parades dont exist is because making a big event over being normal and un-opressed (is that a word?) would be rather incredibly pointless?

I always thought that was part of the point? The parades are obviously so unbelievably over the top and flamboyant that homophobes / bigots are going to see them and instantly enter rage mode, which further validates the reason for more pride events.

I don't hate fags, I just don't get what is to be proud of. You don't see straight people haveing a parade so why should we?

I don't think there is any hate involved, I think it was a figure of speech, he's a bit of a gym rat so I think if he saw the most mincing of 'fags' getting any kind of abuse he would step in and level the playing field, he's a good lad.

Group pride ideologies happen because some people are proud of being in the "right" group. Different people see different groups as being the right group, of course. They all use whatever victim-power they can get, as it's hugely effective as a political tool.

To be clear:

Yes, I am saying that gay pride is innately bigoted. Just the same as any other group pride ideology. There are people who support it and who aren't bigots. There are also people who support the BNP (another organisation promoting group pride ideology) and who aren't bigots. That doesn't stop group pride ideology being bigoted. It just means that some people are fooled by it.

Note the past tense.

As it currently stands the law gives superior rights to homosexual couples because current legal precedent is that any discrimination against homosexual couples is illegal but even the most explicit discrimination against heterosexual couples isn't.

"whites" have the same rights in law. Does that stop white pride? Did it stop white pride when "whites" had superior rights in law?

Group pride isn't about equal legal rights (especially for groups that have equal or better legal rights to people not in that group). Group pride is about group pride. It's not the same thing at all. It's fundamentally and completely different.

I'm bisexual. I want to be in the gay pride parade and the straight pride parade! :)

But seriously, no. I don't want to be in any way associated with gay pride, straight pride, white pride (I'm "white" from the point of view of people who believe in race), or any other "I was born into the right kind of people" pride. I advocate equality, not segregation and bigotry.

Want to hold a parade and street party in which no distinction is made between different points on the sexual orientation spectrum from 100% homosexual to 100% heterosexual? I'm in. Want to hold a parade to promote the idea that the spectrum is 2 discrete groups and 1 of them is the right one (oh, and a cursory afterthought for the "third group" of bisexuality, maybe)? I'd rather spit on those people than join them.
 
I can't understand why anyone can have issues with another persons sexuality so long as it's a normal sexuality and not a twisted excuse that some individuals try to pass off as sexuality, paedophiles, necrophilia, beastiality I'm sure its generally accepted as people who engage in those activities need beating with big sticks.

Straight, bi, gay are all normal, each to their own.

i wouldnt say its normal, its not the complete natural way. but each to their own, as long as they keep it to themselves and not near me all is well
