***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

As I'm away, I've not really had a chance to look at the detail of the pictures I'm taking. So far they look great, but I'm generally just viewing them on my phone.

What I can say, I'm loving using this camera more than any other pone camera thus far. Zero shutter lag is awesome and the panoramic shots are amazing on scenic views.

Quieter than the DHD?! That is massively disappointing if so.

I think I would disagree with that. The DHD was an embarrassment as far as loud speakers go. Whilst I think the Nexus isn't quite as loud as the SGAII, its still very good. I made a few calls home on loud speaker and it did a great job.

There do seem to be conflicting reports on it, I'll have to wait and see I suppose.

I haven't used it for calls, but for playing ringtones/notifications (the same files) it was easily noticeably quieter than my DHD. Perhaps there are hardware revision issues here too - maybe I just had a good DHD, or have a bad Nexus! ;)

I agree with you. The volume on mine is pathetic. Need to have notification/ring tones set to highest to hear them. Some YouTube videos I can hardly hear even at full volume. They are easily heard on my GS2 at half volume.

I'm beginning to think I may have a fault with my speaker.

Try the app I mentioned previously - Volume+ - it "fixed" mine and I was seriously bummed about the speaker level! ;)

That wasn't me, it was Raju, who was about 6th in the queue on launch day :)

Unfortunately (from a reviewing point of view) I picked the Nexus up on the 17th and then flew to San Francisco on the 18th! I did get to visit Google HQ yesterday though (pictures on my Google+ in sign :) )

How are you liking the Nexus compared to the Note so far?

16GB was a deal breaker for me, so I now have a Note on the way for £460, but I'm still tempted by the Nexus purely for ICS. Whether or not I keep the Note will probably depend on how I get on with the size.

You can get cheap cases off eBay that are slim and rubber/plastic for a couple of quid.

Same with screen protectors... Although I bought some universal protectors and cut them down to fit the screen - of course because there are no buttons it makes the front look less sexy having a protector as ideally you need a protector that covers the whole front of the screen. You can get those on eBay.

If I had a complaint about Samsung Galaxy phones then it is the shiny plastic on the sides of the phone as they are a magnet for scratches and damage. The front can be protected. The back with its grippy textured finish would Bernard to scratch and easy to replace if it was, but the shiny smooth plastic is hard to protect.

You either need a case or an invisible shield type protector that isn't available yet. I love the naked feel of the nexus as its so slim so that is what I'm after.

The Nexus looks best naked. There's no doubt. All we need is a nice invisible shield for the stretch prone areas and a good high quality screen protector and we are in business. I hate the idea of my brand new phone getting scratched because the cheap case looks rubbish!

I just take it out When I show people.

I don't think there are any scratch prone areas, and I won't be ruining the screen with a screen protector either.

Putting screen and case protectors on are like wearing a condom - sure it's safe and sensible but it just doesn't give the same experience! :D However, with a phone you're not going to get an STD, nor get the woman up the duff... so just go naked - if the worst happens and you pick up a few battle scars, well it probably still won't look as bad as it will all covered in protective crap anyway! :p

Ive ordered a cheap silicone case from ebay that will at least offer some protection until some thing decent comes along.
