The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Out of interest, for anyone who has completed the main quest? Are there any setbacks of completing it? I.e. is skyrim ruined, so you can't do the side quests, or do dragons stop spawning for you to randomly kill (like oblivion gates did in Oblivion)

Basically can I get on and do the main quest without it having any effect on the rest of my game? xD

I had a week off work last week and spent pretty much the entire time playing Skyrim - a week well spent :D
Level 37 Ranger (Archery, light armour, dual wield swords) Leader of both the Mage Guild and Thief Guild, 100 smithing. Most enemies die in 1 power attack  ... I should probably turn the difficulty up.
Which group is the 'Warrior' guild? The Companions?

Sorry if this has been asked 5000 times already, but can I disenchant an item? I applied the wrong enchantment and want a different one.

I know you can destroy items to learn an enchantment, but can you remove an enchantment without learning it?

Not that i know of. Well if your using the Arcane Enchanting table to disenchant there no way around that i dont think to retain the item.

Btw not sure if it a weird bug. Redguard Warr level 20, disenchanted this soultrap bow, it destroys the item and it says you learned this spell/enchantment.

When i go into my spells menu, the new spell doesnt appear. Does that mean i have to learn a prequesit first or does my class/race prevent me from having it?

Done this on another items and the same thing happens. Did this previously before and learn Spark no problem so no following the logic here.

I think you're misunderstanding the system?

It won't be in your spells menu, it would be in your enchanting options once you're using the enchanting table.... You don't learn a new spell as such, you just learn how to enchant an item with that effect - the effect you can apply at an enchanting table, on armour/weapons

Oh i see - was expecting the ability to be under the enchantment menu within magic menu. So to use it again i would have to use a ordinary weapon/armour at the enchanting table and add the enchantment onto the new weapon?

Anyone here familar with Bashing, wasnt sure if i should learn it or not. Does it auto execute or is there certain button key combinations to use it in combat ? Obviously once you spent the perk points on it of course :)

hold left trigger to block then press right trigger to bash with it. It's damn useful imo.

Just had a nice touch in the open world. I was approached by some Soldiers who asked me for 100 Gold as I was trespassing or something or other.

*** Spoiler ***

They asked for 100 Gold, and I had 3 options. Give it them (not a chance), tell them I didn't have it, or tell them to "take it" from me.

I chose option number 3 :D

There was 3 or 4 of these "Soldiers", and they were pretty tough to take down. When I eventually did, I searched their bodies, and looted anything useful (not much really). Didn't touch their armour at all as it was pretty basic.

I then looked and saw a few other dead bodies, who were stripped naked. Turns out that these "Soldiers" were actually bandits of some sort, who had killed some Imperial Soldiers, stole their armour, and were trying to take my money.

It wasn't a quest or anything, just something that freely happened in the open world.

Have you tried applying an enchantment to the same item? Maybe it overwrites the old enchantment with the new one?

Oddly I havent tried this. I dont think it lists the item when enchanting if it already has one though.

Seems a bit naff that once you enchant something you are stuck with it :(

curious to know this myself

Indeed its saved my arse a few times, especially against mages etc, as soon as you see their hands light up bash-swing, swing-Bash-swing, swing, till its dead, pop a couple of stam potions if need be and away you go.

My 2nd char is working out ok, Sword+Shield With Bow as ranged attack warrior (was a tank in wow so that class kinda sticks with me lol) lvl 11 only at the moment, but killed 2 dragons in the wild, and a boat load of side quests and ive only been to whiterun/dragonreach so far..Keep going on long exploring stints and getting lost :)

I came across a similar group. As I was already in the Legion at that stage, I told that I wasnt falling for it. I assumed they were deserters though at first, rather than bandits.

I assume its the same for 2H then? whilst blocking (Rmouse on PC) press Lmouse to bash, or whatever the 2H equivalent is called? Does this effectivley interrupt a caster then? i really need to get good at this move.

Going into Riften I was challenged to pay 100 gold to get through the North gate. Claimed it was a scam and he let me through telling me to keep my voice down :D

Sneaky archer. I sneak everywhere, it takes me ages to clear dungeons because I rely on the first hit and remaining unseen, but I enjoy taking my time, literally "dungeon crawling". :p On the plus side, I have range, and I have sneak crits, and very rarely even get touched by an enemy.

Same playstyle here, takes ages to clear a place :). But as you know, there's nothing quite like the feeling of that one-shot arrow knocking someone 10ft backwards.

I've dabbled in a bit of conjuration though as well for those hectic 3-5 man scraps, helps even out the numbers.
