The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Is it just me or do your companions never die unless you yourself damage them? I've seen Lydia get knocked down a million times but I've never once had her die on me unless I've hit her with a stray arrow. That includes tanking a dragon by herself when I accidentally fell off a waterfall and couldn't get back up to help her.

Being lvl 51 destro as primary spec with maxed enchantments and great gear. I hate being a caster magic damage just does not scale and at higher levels it sucks. luckly i also spent lot talents in Archery and that the only reason managed to continue.

Seems that way. When she gets knocked down the enemy always switch to attacking me. Shes only died once so far for me, and it was due to me using the fire breath shout right as she got knocked down. Thankfully I had quick saved less than a minute beforehand :D

I have a mage type creature. Mostly destruction, bit of conjuration or whatnot. I seem to get on OK... ish. But I have no stamina, so once I'm out of magica I'm pretty much screwed unless I can run around in circles until it regenerates. Hitting things with a big mace I got from some daedra thing isn't much good.

I'm thinking of starting again but going melee ... with a teeny bit of magic... what do you reckon is the best way to play that style?

Mage is rough early on until you get some good gear with either Destruction -__%, Magica Regen +__% on it or get the perks to make spells cheaper. Stick with it, it's kinda fun to have pets tanking for you while you stand back and nuke.

Hmmm, I still haven't found any quests that don't feel like a chore apart from the main plot and the Stormcloak rebellion. I still try to do them because well that's what videos games do to you.

The game is still loads of fun and addicting 40+ hours in, but the addiction is more of an OCD 'I need to get stuff completed' addiction. Anyone else have similar experiences?

My brain doesn't compute what you're saying.
So you find most quests a chore, but you find it fun ?

What I do is focus on one hand weapons and destruction magic. I have most of my perks in those two trees. My sword does 80% extra damage and has a chance of beheading an enemy. I've also focused on fire damge spells to make stronger.

That means I can blast away at them with firebolts at a distance, and then close it for some devestating sword attacks, hopefully lopping their head off in the process or driving my sword all the way through their back in a power attack :D
