The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Something I want to try with my next character:

Is there a potion that makes enemies attack one another? Or if not, an enchanment? I'm sure I've seen it.

If so, then I want to make an archer class, approach a band of enemies and hit one of them from the distance with my potion tipped arrow causing a brawl among themselves :D :D

Not really. With a game like this theres no "right way" or "wrong way" to build your character. Some races have certain bonus's that can give you a slight edge if you gear yourself towards them, but its certainly not essential. You can be any race and use any playstyle that suits you.

Thanks, I did think that, just wanted to check to see if i wasnt missing something.

I read something about this game having a quest generator thing which produces unlimited quests? but i heard there's 300 or so in the game so what's true?:p

The Thieves guild has a couple of infinite quests NPCs

Once the main thieves guild quest line is done you have to grind 20 (I think) of these generated quests (5 per city) to unlock the final quest - it's the only time i've felt like i'm grinding towards something and its really annoying! They are very quick quests however.

It comes in many forms, as an enchanted staff, on scrolls, in potions, but I've actually never used it :p

The best way of making money that I've found is with jewellery. You can find gold in most mines which when mixed with the random jewels you find all over the place make some pretty pricey trinkets. I mined 12 bits of gold out of one mine and made about 3k off it.

That sounds like a good idea, ive got tons of gems kicking around. Where do you combine the two though? Is it a smithing thing?

I thought this was a cool touch in the game. I randomly fast travelled back to a place that wasn't part of a quest, and someone came up to me and handed me a letter. The letter has my gameplay name on it :) I'm now about to climb the 7000 steps.

get clairvoyance and whenever you cast it the game shows a trail to your quest objective :P

I used that spell a few times, it works at first but then for one quest I followed it for half an hour and it took me to complete wrong place in completely wrong direction, so I think it's kinda bugged as other members have mentioned, I'll never use it again.

Also though, some of you maybe already know this, some might not, but I had trouble finding some quest to start with and had to do loads of google searches...then I discovered that you can track any quest in-game, I'm using xbox 360 joypad...all you do is press start and then press A next to any of the main quest headings, and it puts a triangle next to that quest and you can also press right with the dpad or analogue stick to move into the quest and then select one of the sub quest....

So for example, lets say you wanted to track a MISCELANIOUS quest, you have 15 of them so far, you can press right to move into the middle quest window, and then scroll down and press A to put a triangle next to each one, you can do more then one at once, now you have an icon on screen, not just on the map but also on screen and on your radar so you never have to worry about finding a quest ever again. It's so easy now!

It probably took me a week to figure this out.

I was thinking last night, I have accidently come across trainers in the game and I'd totally forgot about trainers upto last night because I havent used them simply because the trainers I've come across so far have offered me training in 1h, 2h, or block, and I dont use any of that as I use bow/destruction so I was wondering is there any trainers in the game for bows and for destruction spells and if so do you know where they're located please? And is there any other trainers I should go to as a mage?

Thanks in advance. :)

For bows, off top of head there's Faendal in Riverwood (first town you come across) and Aela the Huntress at Whiterun. Destruction spells not sure other than one of the NPCs at the College.

If you go the the college near winterhold there are some trainers there that will train you in all forms of magic :) destro resto etc..

Bows, lockpicking, pickpocketing, sneak, etc = Thieves Guild, Riften
Magic = Mages Guild, Winterhold
Me smash! = Companions, Whiterun

Haha, it wasn't apparent to you after picking up more than one quest?! :D

No, thats why it took me a week to work this out on my own, just stumbled across this feature simply by accident, so hopefully by posting others that dont know will now know too.

I think it would have been good if the developers explained a few things in this game at the start with a quick tutorial or something. Because for me personally this game is quite deep, I find new questions and answers every day.

Somebody posted this list of tips/features:

Oh and for those of you that don't have it, this website will guide you through the main quest line or if you dont want to use the guide but your not sure what quest is the main quest you can check this guide to put you back on track:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Quests

It also has other quest too for college and factions etc I believe.
I didn't know probably 90% of that even after playing over 30 hours.

CTD is starting to ruin this now. Only started after the 50 hours played mark, crashes every 10-15 min of play. Sigh.

It might be too quick to pass judgement on but I was experiencing more and more frequent CTD's. I then installed this as a lot of people had said it fixed their CTD issue or at least made it less frequent http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=202#content

Since doing that i have had about 3 or 4, 2 hour + sessions with no CTD at all.

It remains to be seen whether it has definitely fixed it though.

if i can play it for a further few days with no crashes then i will declare it fixed! :p

I already been there to do some quest and then went back after to see if there was a trainer and searched everywhere talking to everyone I could and couldnt find a single trainer...do you know where he's stood.

And does anyone have any websites or mods to help find trainers?
