Who here owns a Renaultsport?

Cool.

I'm going to judge the performance and heat of my brakes next week at Silverstone and then decide if I should put some ducts in. Moving from the stock Phase2 wheels to the much more open F1s should help a lot with heat build up.

Never had any issues with my phase 1 although it was only a 15 minute session.

I want to get out on track again, wont bother till spring time though, give me some time to save up in case I crash it

Seems a few 172 owners have been banned around my search area recently:

He actually brags about his, not doubt illegal and cause of the ban, racing.

http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/2-reanult-clio-sports-swap/91995791
He's asking for a quad or "best crosser" Does he not realise that being banned from driving also means all other vehicles on the road? Also "road legal" (term used very loosely) quads seem to be on the rise again.

Show's you the caliper of the 172's for sale in my search area, hence why trying further afield but then bricking it every time because of the "I don't know much about cars and I'm too scared to buy an obviously dogged one and not realise it" excuse.

Stay away from both of those for sure!

I think it may be worth waiting for one to come up on CS, check the owners previous posts (to make sure he/she isnt mental) then take the trip to view it.

No idea yet, not had a call from Easytrack myself, but a friend has and apparently Silverstone has cancelled it. Its not listed on their site any more.

Went there in the summer. Its great. The lack of anything to hit makes it brilliant for newbies like me.

Could do with a larger paddock area, and it could be a bit nippy without a garage on Saturday, but the track itself is great. It will be a good comparison between my 16" Toyo wrapped wheels I used last time, and my current Michelin wrapped 15" F1's.

I found you can feel the Toyo's flexing going round some tight corners and I reckon you will see an improvement with the new wheels and tyres

There are photos from my last track day showing the sidewall of the Toyo flexing so much that the edge of the rim is nearly touching the tarmac (I think there in this thread). The scuffs on the outside of the rim confirms that it DID meet the tarmac at some point.

For the money, T1Rs are great, just not in 45 profile on a track :D

Where to go next after a Clio 172?

Semi-sensible 5 door options
- Leon Fr / Cupra / K1,
- BMW 130i M Sport,
- Suburu WRX circa 2008

Or something silly like a 2006 Nissan 350z GT Pack (2007 onwards are £400+ a year road tax) and cycle to work, blast it at the weekends - even though I might be starting a family soon..

Budget is around £8 - £12k, preferably the lower the better to get the most bang for buck and I'd rather have a car 2007 onwards.

Decisions... decisions...
