Who has SKY HD+?

Anyone run anytime + using 200 mbps homplugs? Was thinking about using a couple of TP-Link TL-PA211's. The sky HD box is downstairs, the routers in the bedroom...

I use old homeplugs, the slower ones before the 200 mbps where available (forgot the exact speed). My router is downstairs and my HD box (anytime+ box) is upstairs and have no issues at all with old homeplugs, so i would'nt worry about 200 mbps ones.

My internet connetion is only 5meg, so my issue is the wait at times for downloads especially HD content, home plugs won't be an issue and work very well, your connection speed will be the key factor.

sky boxes can be networked?

For Anytime + do you still need to be on Sky Broadband?

Yes, despite the fact that when Sky launched Anytime+ over a year ago they said it would be for Sky Broadband customers first and then they would release it to other ISP's. They're still using it as a way to try and get as many people onto their broadband as possible.

I've used Anytime+ at my brothers and if you have the movies pack it looks great, but there's no way I'm downgrading from BT Infinity to Sky BB for it.

Does anybody do a VPN type service that provides access, or is the system locked down in some other way the Network prefix?

Yeh i know what you mean, and no signs as of yet for sky introducing a fttc service either.

Iv just spotted loads of lovely new green boxes all over my village, so fttc soon for myself, no idea when they will go live, but its a start. Even though i do like anytime+ id much rather have a faster connection then stick with a 5 meg one and anytime+.

@easyrider
Most of the newer sky boxes come with an Ethernet port for use with anytime +, all the HD boxes certainly do, think they even do a small normal one that does it to as well.

Do you need sky bb? or will it work if I connect the boxes to the net?

Is Anytime+ actually any good?

No that wouldn't work unfortunately because Sky have to activate Anytime+ on your account and they will only do that if they can see you have a Sky BB LLU connection.

You need a Sky BB LLU connection for Anytime+.

It's very good for movies, there's a lot of HD movies on there now. For other content I don't think it looks too great from what I've seen. Virtually everything else is only available in SD, and there are hardly any complete boxsets of tv series.

Sky's FTTC (or even FTTH depending on where you live) is undergoing a limited customer and staff trial. Apparently they've just shelled out for some rather expensive equipment to remove the trialists from openreach equipment onto Sky equipment. That and the recent deal between Sky and BT to share BT's overhead pole and underground ducting systems means that Sky will probably launch a limited fibre service next year.

I don't actaully have a movie sub with sky so I guess its not a lot of use for me?

The TV series would be useful but they would have to be in HD and complete.

I like watching TV series episode back to back in 2 or 3 ep stints.

? whats FTTC and FTTH?

I was thinking of jumping my BB connection to sky as there is an offer on and it works out at £19.75 for Unlimited BB and Phone per month V £31 for Unlimited overnight BB and Phone per month with PLusnet.

I have heard bad things about Sky BB is it really unlimited? Do they not slow speeds down at peak times like they state?

Whats the Tech support customer service like? Plusnet's has been superb

hi easyrider
I have Sky LLU and never get slowdowns at all, my 23997 kbps connection in router was downloading battlefield 3 update at 2.4MB/s to 2.3MB/s last night around 7 pm, I am living very very close to my telephone exchange.
