***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Fully set up everything on mine and I couldn't be happier.

All my media works great, including 720p/1080p files. Both twitter and facebook have synced no problem, as has email, chrome, contacts etc...

ICS is great and the screen is lush, amazing for viewing videos and browsing the web. Runs rapid too.

So far I haven't been able to produce the volume bug, I shouldn't get it anyway being on Orange but I have tried provoking it with a SG2 on vodafone 2G and still no issue. Will try some more testing later.

One thing I don't particularly like is the Google search bar on every screen, I never used the search button on my HTC so I don't need it on every screen here either. I'm sure there'll be a way of getting rid of it soon though.

Also I haven't worked out how to change my ringtone yet to a local music file. :p

I've just rooted my Nexus! :)

One nice little touch is when you boot up the phone and you see the Google splash screen, you see a little unlocked padlock, (I'm guessing this is in reference to the unlocked bootloader).

I'm just loving this phone way too much.

What are the main benefits of this? And drawbacks?

Rooting means you can run apps that need root access, which put simply means you have far greater control over the phone. It means you can install custom ROMs, themes and advanced apps that you're unable to use if you're not rooted.

Downsides are - it can make your phone less secure, and it can invalidate your warranty - although it depends on the manufacturer. IIRC, with the original Nexus One, HTC stated that root would invalidate the software warranty, but not the hardware warranty.

There's a folder called "Ringtones" and you just need to drop your music file in there.

ES File Explorer is a decent app for moving files about if you don't have one yet. :)

Thanks chief, that got me sorted!

How did you get Facebook synced? What steps did you take as I have been unable to sync my facebook account so far!

Didn't do anything special. Downloaded facebook app and then added my account as normal, it just worked for me *shrug*. Maybe try deleting the app and reinstalling? Not sure what else to try.

I have an issue with our work Nexus, the phone wont charge. I put my battery in the phone and it doesnt charge that either. The charge icon appears, but the battery level doesnt go up and the status stays on discharging. Any help please

Ok I think I can upgrade in December some time, currently I have a samsung i5700 spica on a £20 month for 24 months (contract ends in April), something like unlimited texts, 300 minutes, 2GB internet allowance.

What sort of deal would I get for upgrading to the galaxy nexus, would I have to increase my tariff monthly cost to £35 or could I just pay a certain amount up front (if so roughly how much do you think?).

Thanks.

Weird, as when I go to accounts & sync > select my Facebook account, I just get returned to the previous screen. You must be one of the few who actually has it synchronised.

Are all your contacts synchronised with Facebook now?
