Hi,

I built a computer recently but AFTER I installed windows I remembered that some SSD's that use the sandforce controller (my SSD) were affected with some issues that a firmware update sorted out.

So I was maybe going to update the firmware and then reinstall windows (as I am having another issue with it).

So I thought I would update the firmware first, what I want to know is that the firmware I currently have is 2.13 and the latest is 2.15.

Is 2.13 before or after the firmware with the issue, because if it is after, so my drive does not have the issue, then I might just leave it at 2.13 because they say not to update it unnecessarily.

If I do update it, will this void my warranty??

Thanks

Also, if anyone may be able to help with the issue I am having that is making me want to reinstall windows, the link to that thread is here:
Problem installing Office 2010

Right thanks,

I have found out how to do it from the OCZ website, along with some very detailed instructions but will it void my warranty?

Because if so, since the drive is brand new (less than 2 months old) and I am not having any issues with the drive itself, I do not really want to do it unnecessarily

What was the issue they were actually having?

A firmware update won't affect your warranty, the problem they were having was BSOD's and in some cases the drive not being detected at all by the computer/BIOS.

Bearing in mind the computer is new and I haven't used it much, but considering my drive IS detected and I have had no BSOD's so far ... what would you say:

-If, I reinstall windows then update firmware first
or
-If I am not going to reinstall windows, still update firmware then reinstall windows
or
- Leave firmware alone as I am not having any issues

?

Thanks for your help

Thanks,

I decided to do a firmware update in the end because a few (3) times my computer had randomly restarted, not sure if it was BSOD because I never actually saw a blue screen, but it did randomly restart

So I've updated the firmware now, so I will see if the problem has stopped :)
