Just got called a hacker on Smogsys server by some dude called bl4cksh33p or something. You can tell he was a good player because he had numbers instead of letters in his name!

Also, I unlocked the mortar tonight. What's the fuss? I gave it a try and its pretty ineffective. Out of about 30 rounds fired, I hit made one hit, even on clusters of enemy targets. The only good thing I did was take out a tank, but it really doesn't seem all that great.

Or have I managed to unlock it just after it was nerfed in the patch or something?
 
Few pics of guns with the under barrel Grenade launcher & shotgun attached to the guns, I have found these when I picked up peoples guns after I killing them you can actual use the guns scope when firing :)

Never was that powerful, you needed at least two strikes on infantry for a kill, even if they were a direct hit. I guess it just peeved people, being killed by someone way out of sight, especially if they hadn't unlocked it themselves.
Whether or not it has been affected in the patch, I don't know.

It's when you have 3 or 4 people doing it, makes you wonder why. 1 or 2 is fine as it keeps snipers on their toes, but 4 or more does effectively mean a reduced team.

Haven't had a single hardlock. :)

Only thing I have done is wipe the realtek drivers off my system with driver sweep after installing those crappy modded ones, only for that not to solve my problem. Installed 2.64, didn't fix it. Installed 2.66, still didn't fix it. Re installed 2.64, no luck. So installed 2.65, and currently seems to be working after 10 rounds. Think after all the fudging around the offending file got removed?

BF3 did stop responding twice though, once when flying around, and the other whilst I was tweaking graphics settings.

On hardcore its only one direct hit for a kill, but still it just needs someone on the other side to counter mortar.
 
I really don't like the changes to the IGLA and Stinger at all. A pilot with Stealth and IR Flares is pretty much invincible. if you manage to sucker him into dropping his flares then locking on again you might get a hit if he's close enough otherwise his flares will be back by the time the missile is in the air. Then he just flies away and regenerates without any drama. Unless you have 3-4 people running the AA missiles you may as well have a pop gun! :(

Can't say I noticed much change in the mobile AA though?

I have to say though, Extinguisher on the helicopters is fabulous! A pilot with extinguisher and maintenance and come careful flying along with a decent gunner with some good unlocks can stay aloft for ages.

As for the new patch, I can sometimes spawn with my weapon facing straight up or straight down? Only happened since the patch bu doesn;t happen every time either. Other than that no real moments but I still get my first launch 'BF3.exe has stopped responding' then it launches fine and I stay on without any major drama.

I think the decision to have it so that one single infantry can't take out a jet is deliberate by DICE.

It comes back to promoting team work again.

If you want to take out a jet, you need 2 or 3 of you firing a stinger to take it out.

You do need to make sure there are no obstructions in the way of the place you are attempting to mortar

It can go over buildings, but if there are obstructions in the way they won't hit.

If you are repeatedly mortaring the same position and not hitting anything, chances are your shells are being obstructed by something. Move somewhere else more open.

The first 2 stages of Kharg Island rush on the hillside, with a good recon up high spotting for you, you can rain hell on the enemy.
 
game working perfect for me! never any problems before and not one now! seems a lot smoother with 11.11a drivers aswell!

I dont bother using the SOFLAM anymore for that exact reason. If a see a target designated anymore times with no result i will go nuts. Even if i tell my squad / team that i am using one, they still wont take advantage.
Javelin is still pretty useful as long as you aim it up in the air in the right direction before firing.

I need someone like you and Wes in my team, I tend to use javelin, but due to no one actually using SOFLAM, ive gone back to regular RPG :(
 
Any news from EA/DICE on what they plan to do to fix this mess yet?

they probably not in even in work looking at problems yet...

on the other hand from looking at the thread, its small cluster of people having problems. not saying its your fault, its just a combination or set of event that's happened on your machine that has caused it to happen to you.

On another note: When I stopped using afterburner I stopped getting crashes. (pre patch)

a lot of server owners are - moaning about more server crashes & server disappearing from battlelog every 30 minutes. Yes these are problems. but it only disappears from battlelog for 2-5 minutes... so for short term its not a deal breaker, Crashing is a problem but it crashed in R8 too...

Its probably because I'm in the software industry and work in automated stress testing, that i know the fixes will take them a while, you will just have to wait in most instances it normally takes 3-4 patches to get everything where it should be, its just the nature of software & testing & giving fixes a try.

Well i kept getting spawn killed last night, so that part of the patch hasn't worked!!!!
Another thing though, not patch related, unless they've changed it IN the patch. I can shoot a guy a split second before he flashlights me in the eyes, but he doesn't seem to die and i do, cos i obviously can't see **** and he can.
What's that about? Happens too often to be 'just me imagining it'

Had very few issues pre patch. they release a patch and now cant stay ingame for more than 30 seconds. Its hardly a isolated incedent looking at the Battlelog forums.

Strange thing is, some people have not been affected at all, although of the 20 or 30 people i play online with only 1 could play last night.

I've been able to one-hit kill other people in mortars. It's the only thing I use it for, pretty much only on Siene Crossing where they sit back at their spawn and spam the capture points. As long as you've got them dead-centre in the cross hairs it's usually a one-hit-kill.
 
Post patch the game is almost useless to me now. I was 99% satisfied before the patch came out and now it takes at least 5 Join attempts to get into a server.

Also there is a serious lack of teamwork when I do finally get in. Most squads are made up of 4 Rambos sprinting across the map trying to rack up kills.

Is the SOFLAM supposed to scan around and auto-designate targets? Ive noticed it only designates a target if already pointing at the road and a tank passes in front.
