***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

No I wont, and ive never sat on the fence. I just know when to buy and when not to buy. This is one of those times not to buy because the phone simply isn't up to scratch hardware-wise for a "bleeding-edge priced" phone imo.

what are you using now and what are you waiting for?

Well, I've decided to put my order back in against my better judgement. :p

If it has to be replaced in future (now looking unlikely), fair enough, but I can't be bothered to wait.

I think the design, ICS/updates and screen alone are well worth it over any of the other Android offerings. Also, it will probably be another 5/6 months until we get something that is directly better than it.

good man, i doubt we will see anything to rival it until next may/June with quad core.

besides having a stock phone is ruddy handy... even with this bug we will get the fix asap. just imagine if it had to go through a 3rd party first!

Anyone who isn't massively impressed with the notification light, get LightFlow off the market now! It's great - very easy to setup and now I have different coloured flashes for all sorts of events. Love it!

Sensible decision really.

Apart from niggly little issues, which I've experienced with all phones, I have had no real issues with this one. To say I love it would be an extreme understatement. I love absolutely everything. (coming from Desire with custom roms).

You can also set the duration of the light, along with notification sounds and also a choice of length and type of vibrate for each notification.

Absolutely brilliant app.

Yup love having my notification LED, that along with Volume+ are two must have apps for the Galaxy Nexus.

Jsut signed up and I have two contacts lol but its not syncing well. i love the phone but persons app has been a pain so far

Make sure you add all your contacts to your Google account, that way they sync easily without having to mess around with sim card restores.

Ok. Go into Google+'s menu > settings > and then tick the Sync contacts box. Go back to People, then menu > contacts to display. you should see both your Gmail and also your Google+ accounts now.

go back to a person who's not in google+ and you should see the 'add connection' tab now. This tab essentially just adds them to Google+.

Clove seem to have a bit of inside info, and it's more good news -

We are now pleased to be able to update you regarding the situation on the Galaxy Nexus and the issue regarding volume errors on some devices.

We tested the devices yesterday when they arrived and we did find the error in some of the phones but it appeared only to affect devices in poor signal areas using 900mhz frequency.

This was obviously of great concern so we were in discussions with various people and specialists yesterday morning to clarify the situation. We did not wish to make an announcement until a clear solution had been given by Google.

We can now confirm that Google were alerted early to this issue and have been working on a fix. It is software related and as you may have seen from various forum and blog posts this morning, they are now able to confirm that they will have a fix. It is NOT hardware related. We cannot yet say the precise date that this fix will be released but it is expected very soon.

The software update will be pushed out to devices by Google, free of charge, the moment it is available.

Given the discussions we had and this soon to be released update, we were happy to dispatch our devices, we simply could not make any official announcement until we had a clear solution.

OK, so today there were about 6 people in P4U returning Nexus phones, most because of the 2G issue, hopefully with the update there will be minor bug fixes and everything will be fine.

6 people all at the same time? I'd hate to return anything to P4U. It's bad enough buying from them :)

They're saying that without any hard evidence or proof.

All the various posts over at XDA indicate that this IS a hardware issue (the bootloader Youtube video kinda shows this). Lots of hardware issues can be fixed by using software workarounds. This is what I think Google is doing with this "software fix".

Just because they said they can fix it by using a software patch, doesn't mean it's not a hardware fault, which seems to be what Clove have gone to assume.

Whilst I agree that the information on XDA points towards a hardware issue, it is by no means 100% confirmed. Also there is software running in the bootloader so that doesn't prove much.

Those are rather strong and confident words to be used on just an assumption.

just cos it does it in a bootloader does not make it hardware... as far as im aware they built that as well.

even if it is hardware and software fixes it, surely a 'fix' means a 'fix' not a work around as others have mentioned.

im still a bit unsure, i am almost at that point myself, it doesnt help when i cant update any apps on my desire because of lack of space, and its slowing down a lot even with web pages that are heavy. Loading up a few tabs in dolphin puts my space at less than 10MB and means the phone grinds to a halt

as a side note, i use a lot of third party widgets [that are ICS ready] as well as apps like handcent , am i going to make enough use of ICS? i also use launcher Pro on my desire. With all these will ICS make much difference to me? this is a genuine question.. i dont know if it will or not.

Guess im starting to get impatient with the desire, and if HTC/Sony had a decent phone guaranteed in jan/dec i would wait, but could well be February.

Are you in a branch counting?

Was in the branch, a very unhappy chap in there.

Together again.
