***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

From what I've seen of the native apps on ICS I love them.

Nice to see BBC doing a good job as well.

I think maybe we should start a new thread for ICS specific Apps?

CPW close to me have 3 in stock..have a dillema now ;D NExus or Lumia :) I love lumia..but I had android last couple of years...

i got [even though i havent picked the phone up yet]

£15/month 18 months
£220 upfront
100mins
unlimited text
1gb streaming + unlimited browsing/email etc

total for 18 months is £490 which i was happy with, that was through retentions

still undecided if im going to get the phone though with all these issues, its at the shop, i could have it in 30 mins!

What network? You got that deal in it's network shop?

im using the stock music player, and it runs nicely, i found winamp stutters since i installed on icecream, very queit split second stutters. reported on forum and hopefully they will update for ics

Call them and get through to retentions. Tell them they are too expensive and you are leaving, and let them convince you to stay. They actually usually have a lot of wiggle room, so you could get what your after easily enough.

Orange dont carry this phone. Can I renew through a third party like Phones4U to get a good deal?
Tried the onecompare comparison site, but the deals were just okay.

no, i went 'i want to leave' was on t-mobiles retentions service, called them from my mobile. I have to go to car phone warehouse to collect it. being cheaper than almost all the sim free options and including 180£s worth of payg sim cost i feel im about 200£ up on sim free cost over 18 months.

I will hopefully also sell my desire for about £100 looking at the bay prices

think i am going to head to town and collect mine now, if i get bitten by this [ie in adequate fix] i will not be happy and seek revenge in many unpleasant ways!

It's a nice deal.
I went for o2 at £179 + 24*21.50 for o2 200 Bonus + 500MB, worked out quite well, too lazy to do the math atm! I called 'em up just now to offer me a deal on 12m but the best I got was £254 for the phone and £37 a month for the same tariff as above...no thanks. At least on the 24m tariff I could just remove the data bundle instantly, wait 9 months, drop the tariff to £10.50 and pay it off!

I get this, but only when the screen is off. People using poweramp are reporting the same. It seems that ICS is downclocking the CPU but hasn't worked out you still need the CPU at full clock to decode the music.

I've also had the issue on Google listen, but it depends on the bitrate of the podcast to whether it does it or not.

With the 12month you could have had a new phone next year !!!! and sold of the nexus while it was still the latest nexus phone !

only difference is that the 12m is total is £3 more !

I'm hoping it's just a bug with ICS and they'll fix it. Otherwise there may be a lot of broken apps that require CPU power when the screen is off, we'll see though.

Issue with this is that o2 reception at home is poor 2g, and reception at work is poor 2g. Both are poor enough that holding the phone like a phone to make calls results in drops.

But, on the 24m deal:
£179.99 for phone, 1 month at 21.50, 8 months at 15.50, and 15 months at 10.50, though I could pay off those 15 months and terminate. The total would be £482.99
In the mean time, I can continue using my £25pm Vodafone contract with 900 minutes, stop the clock, 50 mms, unlimited internet (very old tariff), which is due upgrade in March. Though I would upgrade it to a mid-range but good selling phone to maintain my current deal, and get a couple hundred pounds cash extra that month from selling the phone.
Once 9 months have passed on the o2 and I've paid it off, I could do it again with the next Nexus or whatever other phone is doing the rounds at the time! :)
