***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

I'm hoping it's just a bug with ICS and they'll fix it. Otherwise there may be a lot of broken apps that require CPU power when the screen is off, we'll see though.

i do like the power down option, as i have stated before my GN lasts longer than my SGS2 battery wise when the phone is idle

yeah i guess so. a noticeable improvement on battery life

Loving the battery life on it too. With my daily work usage and web browsing (no media playback), installing some apps over wifi. I've been around 40-50% battery remaining at the end of the day.

Hours are about 8am till 11pm.

Glad to hear this, but some more detail from them would be nice.

All we have at the moment is this:

Regarding the Galaxy Nexus, we are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix. We will update devices as soon as possible.

The details are bound to follow from other sources.

I more mean the fact that it isn't detecting that something is running. I definitely want the CPU to power down when not in use. If this is a new feature of ICS then yes it'll probably be up to individual apps to tell the GN not to downclock and as Google never update Google Listen I'll have to find a new podcast app :P

I dumped Listen a couple of months ago and now use Podkicker. It's a lot better and free. Only downside is it doesn't sync with Google Reader

Orange cancellations have just told me that they are getting the GN at the end of this month, and should be able to quote prices and whatnot on Dec 1st!

Interesting, may hold off a bit...

I'm just off the phone to Phones4U, wanted to return the Nexus. Just to clarify, I am not unhappy with the phone. It was the contract that I felt wasn't the best.

Wanted to just buy P&G from Three and get £15 top up. Told the guy this.

Spoke to a very nice and helpful guy. Told him the problem and he popped me on hold.

Advise, if I wanted to return and cancel then I could. I had activated the SIM so was surprised.

I happened to mention the Nokia Lumia 800 and he said I could return the Nexus and they would exchange for the Nokia.

Also offered to refund the £49 I had paid for the phone if I wanted to keep the Nexus.

Thinking it throug, the contract actually works our cheaper than the P&G. So ended up just taking the refund of £49 :p

So on 18 month contract with Orange at £38.50 with 600 minutes, 3000 texts, 1GB internet and BT WiFi.

GS2 will be going up for sale :D

Here's how much battery I have left after 24 hours.

Whilst it's not had heavy usage it still has been in constant sync with Gmail, twitter, facebook and tweetdeck. Also installed a few apps and done a little media playback and browsing.

Huge improvement over the Desire I've been using. Also charging the Nexus is rapid!

Thanks for that, really interested in the comparisons to the Desire. Could you let me know whether the loudspeaker is better?

Out of the box, probably a bit quieter. But using volume+ from the market makes it loud enough without distortion.

I just use the free version which gives +4 setting, plenty loud enough for me. But I believe the paid version allows even more volume.

Edit: Also listening to music from the headphone port is a vast improvement.
