Yup, basically confirms it's a hardware issue but the software makes it a non issue.

As the cpu won't have to handle this extra noise from the RF interference, therefore no battery drain.

As they say they encounter this stuff daily, just was a fix they hadn't implemented before shipping.

Wrong site there fella.

Need to register and then click on download, takes you to 1.8 latest release.

Thanks mate, works much better than the one I had, and I picked up astro as well, cheers!

I was amazed at the speed of the GPS connection. It connects within seconds even when indoors...my x10 used to take forever and I wouldn't even attempt it indoors!

I was worried before I got it though due to the issues the SII had.

Yup, by far the quickest I've seen from any phone, faster than our TomTom even!

The included barometer helps.

Hmmm, I don't know. I am indoor on WiFi.....My iPhone drops the pin right on my house, my Nexus gives me data that in its own words:

"Is accurate to 4500 metres"

Any ideas as to why? All location settings are on.

I should add, the iPhone now has no sim so is not gaining from cell towers, while the Nexus has.

I left the house this morning for work and when I got to work, my WiFi was off. I didn't turn it off. I switched it on and connected to the work network. When I got home at the end of the day, I found the WiFi was off again. Does the phone automatically deactivate WiFi when you're a long way from a recognised network?

I'm not talking about WiFi sleep here (set to always on), the WiFi was totally off.

Issue with this is that o2 reception at home is poor 2g, and reception at work is poor 2g. Both are poor enough that holding the phone like a phone to make calls results in drops.

But, on the 24m deal:
£179.99 for phone, 1 month at 21.50, 8 months at 15.50, and 15 months at 10.50, though I could pay off those 15 months and terminate. The total would be £482.99
In the mean time, I can continue using my £25pm Vodafone contract with 900 minutes, stop the clock, 50 mms, unlimited internet (very old tariff), which is due upgrade in March. Though I would upgrade it to a mid-range but good selling phone to maintain my current deal, and get a couple hundred pounds cash extra that month from selling the phone.
Once 9 months have passed on the o2 and I've paid it off, I could do it again with the next Nexus or whatever other phone is doing the rounds at the time! :)

Didn't know you had another line !

Odd mine says accurate to within 20m. Gets a lock in seconds.

Check all location services are on maybe?

Anyone got an upgrade on Orange on a 18 month contract and if so what was the handset cost?

Im on Orange 18 month contract and paid £150 for the phone but thats because Im on a £33 a month contract and Orange then went and knocked 10% off a month on my contract.

Yeah everything is on.

Settings>Locations Services>

All 3 are ticked on. I just restarted them all, still accurate to 4500 metres! :(

Pretty encouraging reports about the battery life.

Any one experienced anything different? Or everyone having good experiences? Is it (so far) better than the s2? (or, if someone can compare it to the HTC Magic, that would be better :D).

If battery life is ok and the software fix is fixing the 2g issue, are there any other negatives of this phone at the moment? (apart from annoying search bar that can't be removed >_<).

Yeah. I also before that turned off Maps and GPS in the applications menu, and cleared the maps cache. Still nothing.

That few extra quid is 120, and he can still end his contract after 12 months :).

And no point paying extra for a service I can't use. On o2 the phone would have to live on GPRS :(

Didn't know you had another line !

Yep, have a Vodafone too! Always mean to cancel the o2 but they always used to offer decent deals with which I could sell the phone for more than the cost of the contract, or keep the phone and just pay the contract.
Like in this case, the 24m contract ends up costing £482.99, which is cheaper than buying it outright, and I can pay for it over 9 to 24 months! :) 9 months in I could pay it off for £157.50

I could in theory lower monthly outlay by switching the Vodafone to SIM only, but I doubt they'd let me retain my current tariff for a lower price than it is now, with no phone attached. But if I did so, and didn't get upgradeitis between phones, I could just go on taking out deals like this one from o2 and paying it off after 9-12 months. It's like finance, only it's cheaper than buying outright!
