I need to get an ssd for my desktop computer, I used my desktop computer far more, and it goes through much more boot cycles (average 3.5 minutes after all the hard drive seek noises have stopped, and apps can launch at optimal speeds)

The laptop is fine it rarely ever shuts down, and goes on suspend most of the time, plus it's a CULV processor it doesnt do any fancy tasks, so a SSD probs aint going to improve it as much because the CPU is a bottleneck too.

Is there any advantge of a 3.5" ssd over a 2.5" of roughly the same build.

E.g. I noticed that ocz vertex 2e comes in both sizes? Not sure why they would create a larger version for no apparant reason, perhaps there are some economies like better passive cooling or longer electronic wear times.

The bigfoot (3.5" version) could use more cheaper ram chips than the regular 2.5" version.
Rubbish. They are identical except for the form factor. The bigfoot is only for Desktops whilst the 2.5" version is for Desktops and Laptops. They use the same flash memory.
