What i'm getting at isn't so much that they should have "protected status" like a human, but more that the person who does the deed should be looked at for what they've done rather than what it was to. I know you can't take someone to court saying "you killed a cat in the street with a gun, that's like killing a person, life sentence!" that'd be stupid....i guess what i'm saying is they need to use common sense (HAHA) depending on the WAY a crime is commited, rather than what the crime was commited on.
Putting any animal in a microwave means you're a pretty sick and twisted person, my argument here is that because it was done to a cat shouldn't distract away from giving her the same punishment as to if it was done to a baby.
