I drink Diet coke because its healthy and makes me look like im on a diet

I used to drink about 2L of cola every single day when I was younger, but now I only drink about 1L a day and sometimes not even that.

Cola sucks because it's a drink loads of people get addicted to.

Sadly I don't know what diet coke tastes like as i'm allergic to some of the extra chemicals they load it with instead of natural ingredients to make it less fattening :P

Isn't aspartame a drug for treating stomach ulcers that the yanks realised was sweet during testing so they passed it for use as a sweetener? :P

"Drugs" and "lots of" never really go well together :P

That site looks dodgy as hell. I'd imagine they're scaremongering to get hits or sell some sort of health guide. Can't be bothered to read it to find out.

Disgusting, if he wanted to get off the stuff he could, a few weeks long detox of drinking nothing but water and eating healthy would sort him out.

Would be difficult but it is doable, bless him, horrible situation to stumble into.

It is complete scaremongering and for profit. If it can't stand up to scientific standards then there is your clue.

I drink diet coke daily, but not to that level!

I probably average out at about 1.5 litres a day, I drink plenty of water, fruit cordials and fruit juices too, so it's not my only fluid in take.

I don't think I have any health problems linked to diet coke, I'm overweight but over the past 9-10 months I've lost 4.5 stone whilst still drinking diet coke.

Hopefully! I do have some of it in chewing gum, must be a tiny amount compared with diet coke though.

Actually it really is true, aspartame is a drug form the 60's for treating stomach ulcers, they realised during testing it was sweet so it ended up being used as an artificial flavouring, its detrimental health effects are well documented.

I prefer the taste of Diet Coke to fat Coke, but even so I never drank more than two cans a day.

BTW I feel so much better now I don't drink it (or any other fizzy soft drinks) any more, and it's only my perception but I'm a lot less hungry since I gave it up.

There's a pretty strong link between aspartame and liver/brain damage. Recent literature suggests that it can also increase likelihood of alzheimers. Personally I avoid it like the plague because it doesn't agree with my stomach.

By well documented, do you mean this:
Publicity of this controversy has been spread through an elaborate health scare[10] and "Internet smear campaign"[11] involving hoax[10][12][11] e-mails repeating Betty Martini's widely circulated conspiracy theory. Her undocumented claims are still repeated by thousands of self-published Web sites.

heh

Well it's certainly not the coke that's making him fat, since it contains 0 calories. Still though, picture made me lol hard.

If you drink a heap of it is does not help your weight. I remember reading that it is too acidic and decreases your absorption of some nutrient(s) which are important for weight management.

Hi Mark,

I remember reading a study which showed aspartame to shrink brain size in rats. While I know that we are not rats - nor do people tend to consume the amount of chemicals they throw at the rodents in these studies; it was enough for me to think twice before opting for any sweetener particularly aspartame.

I think they should be forced to use him in a Diet Coke add ;)

"I just wanna get close to you" NOT you revolting tub of ****!
