CWM is now available via Rom Manager, time to get some custom roms tested ..... well the one that's ready anyway :-)

OK, so I am carrying out an experiment. I have installed Android System Info and will be monitoring my battery for the next 24 hours. I know it is early days and the battery ahs not broken in, but it seems random.

I have screen auto brightness off, manually set to full, and I have Volume+ running at 7, so those will have an impact. I use DeskSMS to do most of my texting so that should save screen time. Standby time is good, but using the phone for any videos etc seem to drain it very fast. We shall see. Since it completed its full charge an hour ago I have not used it, and it is at 96%.

A huge factor in battery drain while in standby is how hard the radio is working in the background. So if your not on wifi and live in a bad signal area your phone will be working hard to keep a connection.

Same goes for wifi, if your router is miles away from you all the time your phone will be working hard to keep the signal.

Having your screen set to full is realy going to kill the battery, i have mine set to about 1/3 and it looks great to me.

Good points, so I will clarify. WiFi will be on for the duration. It is in the next room and shows signal strength as "Fair". Also radio signal is 3/4. And brightness is full as I feel that is where it looks best. When I turn it down it can't compete with my old iPhone 4.

For those still on the fence with regards to this phone, here is another glowing review this time from engadget.

"Battery life is excellent. While we only managed to squeeze about five hours and 15 minutes from our battery rundown test (where we play a looped video starting from a full charge), it matches what we saw with the Droid RAZR, which features a similar battery and processor. Note that we switched video players since our usual app misbehaves in Ice Cream Sandwich. The 1,750mAh battery fared significantly better in our battery usage test (where we use the device normally until it shuts down), lasting an impressive 28 hours. Other than watching videos, it's unlikely most people will have to worry about running out of juice with the Galaxy Nexus."

i have looked absolutely everywhere now for a viably priced new customer deal the only one i could find was 680 over 24 months, scraping the barrel with texts/minutes and data, and by the time prices have come down the new phones will be out anyway. damn t mobile and their false promises!

Gonna ask again - does anyone find the WiFi on the phone randomly turns off after 10-20 minutes when it's not connected to a network? And I mean off off, as in, needs turning on again with the toggle switch. I'm not running JuiceDefender or anything like that.

Is that with relatively moderate use? Screen time?

It sounds similar to the iPhone 4 battery, which would be pretty amazing if so, considering the screen...

The iPhone 4 can do a good 8-9 hours of browsing on wifi though. I'd be shocked if a 4.7 inch screen Android phone came close to that.

Idle time with screen turned off doesn't seem like a great way to compare... My Note only dropped 3% in about 9 hours overnight, but it can't even match my iPhone 3GS for browsing time.

How does the Nexus do with battery drain when listening to music? My SGS2 obliterates the battery which is getting a little frustrating to say the least.

£342 is a bargain!

It is, but -

hmm a few things makes me question this deal,
1. they are showing a picture of the nexus s (minor detail i know)
2. the price of £149.99 is only obtainable via this specific link and cannot be found on their website, o2 is selling the phone for £249.99 at this tariff.
3. not a good reputation: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews-all-168317.html even users in this forum have complained about them taking the money and then waiting a couple of weeks only for them to say no stock. even on mobiles which are not in high demand and stock is readily available everywhere. and then waiting even longer for their refund.

i wonder if this deal will even be honored, or they will claim no stock like they have done to so many other people, (after taking their money!)

Really? People in the SGS2 thread are claiming that they lose about 5% over a 2 hour period when listening to music. I think that's too optimistic personally.
