GAME - Gamestation, about to fold?

That style was a leftover from the days of Future Zone if I recall.

That's probably why GAME decided to renovate and ditch that style.

Nope, it opened in 1991 in a brand new shopping mall, which is also when Game was founded. So I'd imagine it was one of the first ever stores.

Also Electronics Boutique was later opened on the high-street just outside the Mall, and this was before they bought Game from Rhino Group.

As for renovation, it's because of shop synergy, so that every shop looks the same and that when they produce materials for the stores, they work for every shop. It's no different to any other high-street chain.

I also just remembered another stupid thing that happened in the store...
Head Office would send out a cassette tape of licensed music that could be played in the store every few months. Being a cassette, it naturally degraded being played on a loop all day. It got to the point where it would be playing back all slow and warped, but Head-Office never sent a replacement. So many Customers would ask why it was playing, but we weren't allowed to play anything else in the store!

There was also a lot of speculation that if Gamestop does move into the UK, that they most likely would have bought out Grainger Games for the Northen part of the operation. However, after their 'PR Suicide' as one journalist put it, that's not looking very likely anymore.

The condom thing is just ridiculous though.
Like the one guy points out, the industry is very male dominated... but quite how anyone made the decision that they would be a good idea as a promotional item at an awards ceremony and for that matter, spread out on a table before dinner!

Needed a new mic so ventured to game as I wanted it for the same evening.

£15.99 for an xbox branded one, or £19.99 for one which was a complete headset (including game sound & chat sound with independent sound levels which you can change).

Was actually a good experience, the guy checked for me (without asking) that it did include game sound as well as mic sound, I hadn't even thought of it when picking it up.

No matter what time of day, or what day of the week I go into this store, it ALWAYS stinks of B.O, I know one of the lads who works in there (real skinny short lad with black curly hair), very clued up about current releases etc, from what I gather.

Haha brilliant maybe that is why my girlfriend waits outside all the time then. I think I might know the guy you mean, there is one with poorly dyed red hair who I swear is on smack.

As for trade - in. I got £4 quid for Bad Company 2 on Xbox back in September, £2 for Fifa 11 and £6 for Black Ops. I almost knocked the t**t out when he said that. Criminally insane.

You sound like a balanced individual.

Anyway. You should have asked them to price match CeX, assuming you were after store credit.

Do they price match against CeX though? I tried selling Gamestation my Fifa 12 brand new and wrapped a while back after it'd just been released, they offered me £11. I couldn't control my laughter and told them to do one. I then informed them that CeX will give me £27 for it cash, they said they don't price match with them. Gamestation is only 10minutes away so that's why I went there first.

They price match store credit, though I don't think they match cash.

I tried trading them the Trials/Limbo/'Splosion Man set a while back and they would only give me £6 credit or something. I said I'd take it to CeX, who would give me £12. The guy asked me for proof, so I looked it up on my phone and showed him. He matched it.

Haha, i laugh everytime i see the new Christmas adverts for game/gamestation. Although i do quiet like the gamestation one.

Said headset broke 2 days after purchasing. Won't be buying from GAME again.
