*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Drunkenmaster doesn't like ANYTHING. I've never seen a DM post that does anything other than complain about the deplorable state of gaming today :p

First impressions are a bit meh for me. I dont know what I was expecting but im not all that fussed. As others have said it feels a bit like a single player.

I can honestly say I enjoyed warhammer a lot more at the beginning. Still going to buy it though as I fancy another mmo after getting sick of eve.

Performance isn't that great for me on an i5 @ 4.5 and a HD6970.

Seems to stutter at times, this is at 1080P and everything max.

As for the game.... well, it's a tough one. Perhaps I was expecting too much but it hasn't drawn me in like i'd hoped. Currently got a Consular to level 10.

Have no problems with frame rates in this game have every single slider and option at Max and I sit at 110/111 all the time.

He might come across as negative but his points are valid to him and he attempts to back them up and debate.

If I remove the Star Wars theme from this game then it's just another MMO following the same generic theme park ride like many before it. It's certainly not game changing and very much plays by the numbers.

Bioware were never going to take big risks, the gaming market has changed and its all about maximizing subscriptions and therefore profits for EA. I've no doubt EA looked enviously over at Blizzard and the success of the WoW model and instructed Bioware to copy the formula.

The only thing on the horizon which seems to be trying to push the boundaries is Guild Wars 2, but I'm not sure whether Arenanet have the resources to fully develop their ideas.

That being said it's Star Wars, its a new MMO so I'm willing to give it a try.

Not saying any of this is untrue, but no one can make a judgment of a game they have played 10 levels of, that what makes his and anyone that supports his view utter idiots

People keep saying that about GW2 - but I don't see what it offers different to many other MMO's either?

Not trolling, just interested to know what it is about GW2 which is a game changer?

I like all the voice acting though. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I love it. It really does pull you into the story and want to know what's going on rather than just a huge wall of text to read.

That said it does still feel like a single player game to me with a chat room added :p but I dunno maybe it gets better at the higher levels.

Anyone else on the Lenico Gargantuan server?

Nope, what class/level? I might roll on there if there's a hope in hell of catching up.

I have an 11 Bounty Hunter on Kissai Caste, an 11 Smuggler on Ajunta Pall, and a 6 Inquisitor on The Leviathan.

Now, if only I could get into any of those servers :( In a queue to play with my Bounty Hunter right now.

While it's fair to say you can't fully judge a game within 10 levels, it is true that you can tell if the game is the right one for you within that time.

I remember my first 10 levels of Warcraft being magical and I was hopelessly hooked from that point on. ToR lacks that instant WoW factor (pardon the pun).

Sorry I disagree. Ten levels might not be a lot, but it gives a decent idea of the format of this game, and that that format is entirely standard.

I'm torn, the pve's generic and staid as expected, pvp's always good initially but long term I'm worrying a little right now.

Not when you've not even left the starter world though - the game opens up a significant amount once you hit the capital planets - much more grouping up for one

Its still very hard to judge this game in 10 levels as I have not enjoyed any of the starter planets not one, so far (oops well except the bit I player on a Trooper) This game only well for me comes into its own once u hit places like Tatoonie or Alderaan the game opens up and becomes real fun.

Lots of people go into a game not wanting to like it so they never will.

When I first played this game if you look like a 150 pages back you will see I thought it was garbage, but its got better and gets better.

You will get the nay sayers just to be naysayer.

Because thats how people are you will see the same comments in GW 2 threads when the game is out or in beta as you see in this one.

Sums it up for me too. Would rather not have to play though a 10 level tutorial grind aimed at pensioner/6 year old difficulty level.

So you expected it to be rock solid so it immediately frustrates everyone?

What an incredibly bizarre thought. That was never going to be the case so why even install it?

I think I must be the only one quite impressed with the graphics! Yeh sure they're not Skyrim quality or whatever but the way I see it is it is unrealistic to expect a game of this size to have top level graphics aswell. I wonder how many people here complaining about the graphics also complained about the client size?

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the game so far! Was a bit unsure at first with my BH but I think that is because I'm not used to the ranged combat style of play. I have since leveled a Sith Assassin to 13 and i'm loving it so far.

Although I'm hardly 'high level' yet I do agree with the people who say it gets better later. By level 10 you're starting a new planet, have your advanced class, a lot more abilities and your very first companion. All of which really helps the questing in becoming more involving.

I definately think the people who are complaining at level 3 should at least get to 15 or something to get a real feel of what the game is like!
