I've played 60 hours of BF3 and never actually been killed by a plane when i've been on the ground.
Some guy landed on our air carrier when i was taking off, so I hit afterburner and mowed him down.. He was on the opposite team of course
The last patch did increase the damage against infantry though, so maybe it will happen soon.
one of surpises on my server may happen tonight
different map one of new maps maybe or you just changed rotation and that is a suprise rofl
It really helps does it (non-flyer here)? I do it all the time but only rarely see any benefit from it (assist points).

I always spotted targets whenever i could, both air and ground and i hardly ever got in aircraft. Since the stinger got nerfed, i couldnt just hope that the pilots on my team would their job and take care of the air support. So i have started to use the aircraft. Getting the required unlocks for prolonged jet use took a bit of time, unlocks for the chopper was easier, with capture points and gunner usage. I use a 360 pad for flight by the way.
Spotting targets in the air and on the ground makes a pilots job a hell of a lot easier. Not so much about the spot points but more to do with if you want the best chance of winning the conquest, then spot when you can.
Spot a tank that is giving you grief on a cap, good pilots will see the spot and give you a hand.
Same with jets in the air, trying to spot a jet or a chopper isnt easy at times so any spotting assistance from the ground always helps.

If I get bored I start killing infantry. It's really easy since the patch.

Was ona server like that earlier on Firestorm, multiple tanks just outside the main spawn with the jets and heli's bombarding the spawn with missiles from range
Match ended with them having over 400 spawns, i only joined in the last minute, quite annoying,.

Yeah i was playing on their server last night They were base raping on OF with jets and helis. Even members of their own team where telling them to stop.
Well i spot infantry and tanks left, right and centre, just never knew how worth while it was for air targets, as most of the time i spot them as they flash past, and then don't have a clue where they've gone or what's happened to them.
It's tougher now with infantry, as your spot disappears if you lose sight of them, so often you have to stick your head out if you're spotting for a sniper team mate or someone sneaking up behind them. Great watching the triangles disappear one by one

I have decided metro is my favorite map.
I had all morning on it today managed to crush the Russians going one way, then the US going the other way, then had all the spawn points taken in the first five minutes as the US in the last round I played and completely shut the Russians out of the station.
I did have one round where we get held up on the stairs as the US where I kept charging up the right hand stair case with with the Saiga shotgun and etended mag just blowing the defenders away and getting 5 or 6 kills at a time, I'd get to the top and round the first corner but because nobody would follow I'd get stuck on the reload and overwhelmed on the counter attack.
You dont die in real life if your little man dies in the game, just man up and push on en masse and you quickly overhwelm the defenders. same going the other way.

Whats the point of running a pub if you're gonna have voice co-ordinated spawn raping sessions? Probably the easiest way to drive people away from playing on if its something that occurs regularly.
