Autism, Aspergers, Dyspraxia etc

Interesting! Perhaps our paths have crossed..!

Your not a bit useful at games are you?

I get concerned, however, how a 30 year old man is able to 'slip through' during childhood, and is now contemplating a diagnosis. I wonder what benefit, if any, would come of it. Obviously I don't know the situation well enough to fully comment.

No benefit I would assume really - my point earlier about children getting the right support I still would argue to the end of time. It is how you use that label but things are a great deal better than they used to be.

You won't, because they have no reason to tell you and dont see it as badge of honour. They keep it to themselves.

Why does it happen here then? It's a place where people aren't anonymous and it's time that they finally realise it.

Blaming one's bad spending habits on a mental disorder is simply ridiculous.

Yes. Maybe in the future I will be lead to retract my statement! :p

No, I don't think you will totally. It's a difficult one like when I said earlier about poor feeding. Is it an early example of poor social fixing or is it that the failure to socially bond at that point then continues on. My personal view is that there is a tendency to not work social bonds and the degree that is overcome is in someway responsible for the extent that is exhibited in later life. I think we can quite clearly see genetic disposition though - it's just where.

only my immediate family , my soon to be ex wife, and my wifes closest friends know i am.
you may think i wear it as a badge of honour but i dont.

i got advised against telling people numerous times aswell after i got diagnosed.

if u read my posts you would have saw about the schools i attended beeing amongst the worst in the country, as i said my secondary school was closed down as beeing beyond saving.

the people who diagnosed me said i obviously learnt to hide it very well as i grew up, its more about my family knowing there medical history than anything , as you said its not known wether its genetic or not and i want my child to know why i am like i am and to be able to understand it (once hes old enough ofcourse).
if i google the names of the people who diagnosed me one is listed on various websites and seems to be known as an "Autism specialist"

So why did you not take this advice?

Well if he does not understand the social context of things due to his Aspergers then surely he would do the very things you say?

Hello I am XYZ I have a diagnosis of Aspergers (a fact) (I do not understand that is unnecessary information and is socially frowned upon).

Just throwing that out there.

I know but it is not necessarily coming across that way and when people take things literally by their nature what do you expect!

I swear aspergers and gaming comes hand in hand,,, I did a computer game technology degree and the people with aspergers definitely outnumbered the normal people.

And no I don't have aspergers.

And if you go to the swimming baths you will find people that like swimming or have a tendency towards liking swimming.

I'd suggest i am probably not.

Just LOL.

I understand far more than you seem to think, hence my posts.

Never been told I am a socialite before though, thanks for the amusement :D

you dont seem to understand much at all and just come across as someone who likes to judge and persecute anyway with ASD.

you dont seem able to seperate aspergers syndrome and autism.

aspergers is the one most people lead them selfs to believe that have or people use as an excuse to avoid jail time and is hwat i originaly thought i might have had.

autism is generally considered to be a lot worse than aspergers and is what i was actually diagnosed with.

you porbbaly think its all made up and theres nothing wrong with me because i can interact on a highly specialised internet forum.

Aspergers and Autism are one and the same. Autism by definition is a spectrum disorder. Aspergers tends to lie on the lower end of that spectrum, but is still a form of Autism.
