you guys do realise what kind of unit that is?

its a seasonic supply so capable of much higher output than a standard 600w generic supply.

fact of the matter is, that a 580 and a 1155 cpu will not be drawing anything near 600w. the supply covers it.

I understand that you guys are enthusiasts but this is a pre-built system. people who buy pre built systems tend not to add extra graphics cards etc.

this means that having a supply that is up to the job and not massive overkill is a must.

The average pre-built system customer wants a stable, balanced system and this power supply provides that. Sure, for you guys there is a need to buy a higher wattage unit as you may want the option of multi GPU but for someone who buys a pre built unit, there is just no need.

Anyway.. complaints about the PSU.

Lets put things in perspective here.

I myself have a 2600K at 5GHz, 2x GTX580s at 1000+ Core and 4.4GHz+ on the memory with a couple of SSDs and full W/C. It draws no more than 550W at the wall, less than 500W at the PSU. That 600W PSU could in theory cope with my set up although Im not sure how well the PSU would cope under extreme loads for long stretchs of time. This system will use far less power than my own due to its lesser OCs and in all honesty could potentially cope with an additional card despite what a manufacturer may state is required. As such the 600W PSU in this system is a fantastic choice offering plenty of room fo an upgrade later down the line to something like an GTX590 or perhaps the next gen cards when they arrive.
