Advice needed premier inn damage in room!

The majority of the cost would be accumulated from their "loss of earnings" from not been able to rent the room during the week. Standard B.S. on their part really.
If there were a loss of earnings component I'd want proof that the every single similar room was occupied.

A bit weird that they just change their minds. You should make it known to them that a member of their staff said it wasn't a problem.

Indeed. I'd go a step further and try to get them to tell you how many people they turned away because there weren't enough rooms (don't know if they even have those records, but worth a try :P)

With regards to the carpet, if they had cleaned it straight away and then dried it properly there wouldn't have been a problem. It's their fault if it started to smell because they didn't dry it out.

I'd argue that is was their responsibility to ensure that the overflow system on the bath was sufficient to prevent water overflowing into the bathroom / bedroom.

Their failure to do so put your safety at risk.

Tell them to forget about the charges and you'll not take the matter any further.

Best of luck :)

Loving the idea!

I flooded my whole hall in my first year, twice :) . It stinks for a week but It does go when it dries fully.

it shouldn't have been replaced.

I was going to say the same thing, upstairs flat flooded us a hell of a lot more than the op, prob 25ft square of carpet, plus walls and bathroom lino floor. we got most of the water up with a wet vac and yeah it smelt damp for a little but after a few days it was fine.

Wow that's ridiculous!!

Some of the other guys in ... umm ... a band I know *ahem* ... did the following while super drunk in a Premier Inn:

1) Threw cider bottles at the walls to try and explode them which resulted in loads of bottle cap sized holes in the wall.
2) Knocked a radiator off the wall in the hall
3) One guy set off a fire extinguisher in the hall at the others
4) Ripped the artwork off the wall and threw it in the bath
5) Urinated on the artwork in the bath
6) Spilled booze everywhere, on beds, carpets and walls.
7) Woke up everyone above, below and around the room

Police were called and ejected the parties .... total bill for damages demanded by the hotel = £81 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EIGHTY-ONE POUNDS !!!

So if I was you I would tell them to go **** themselves.

torch the hotel, that will dry the carpet out and destroy any evidence in the process ? Fire is the answer to everything, apart from when its complex then you need a combination of fire, mustard and pancakes..........

1. If you didn't sign anything then they don't have a leg to stand on
2. Why the hell would they put a carpet in the bathroom, you get out of a shower/bath with wet feet :s LMAO i would think that was not aloud in a hotel, you can't clean a carpet for germs like a normal bathroom floor.. tell them you now have a massive verruca on your foot and can't go to work for a week.. :)

It was the bedroom carpet nothing to do with the bathroom :)

i will be waiting for the invoice before i do anything else!! but i will not be paying out £500 will ask why the overflow didn't deal with the incident though! and say that i have done much worse at home and a clean and time to dry has always sorted it before

Of course he signed something - you have to provide a signature on check-in.

But I'd go with the argument about the bath drainage obviously not being fit for purpose. A bath should never overflow just from running the taps. If you got in it whilst it was full and caused the overflow then that's another matter.
