Sometimes I'm ashamed to be British...

Because they will achieve something in their lives, unlike yours who will probably be typical dole scrounging bigots, going on internet forums spreading their bigoted views that they got from their white trash father.

It's funny, if i went around this forum calling black people names the equivalent of white trash i'd be banned in an instant.

English culture not British mate. I am English first British second.

Erm about the same culture I have lived, my parents and grand parents, you know the way of life, food, past times, the same your family probably still practice when they moved from Asia.

Hang on. At home, we had pasta for dinner. I speak to my family in English. My father wasn't even born here, and yet his favourite song is 'Jerusalem'. We are very much a part of this country and what it has to offer to is, and what we have to offer to it. Of course, we do still have practices that are not common to this country, but they are religious more than anything else.

Culture slowly changes over centuries, I still go drinking in a pub that was a water hole for people in the 1800s, doing the exact same thing they did, drink, have a good time with family and friends. You cant just dump, different cultures and religions in a small country and expect everyone to live happily ever after.

Immigration doesn't stop you from doing that does it?

Immigration can bring more modern, better ways. Soupy think its ok for UK brands and ppl to go to other countries, open shops and change culture to simethig the majority can use?
For example, tesco in LEDCs can help people in poverty. It might destroy some of the original roots, but it improves many peoples lives.

By stopping immigration, yes, the "British/English" culture is preserved, but things like technological advances may also get lost.

As much as I don't agree with DD's views calling him white trash and white scumbag kind of defeats the argument.

By your own exacting standards of the argument I presume? ;)

You have of late acted as the moral arbitrator for OcUK during these sorts of discussions I notice, any reason why?

Doesn't DD just defeat himself from the off?

can I ask, do you visit "Asian areas" to get vegetables like my parents do?
Also, what religion are you?

It definitely is, but surely you can accept that some people have quite different cultures compared to what most of this country would consider to be right.

I'm sorry, but if someone was really opposed to this country and its values, they wouldn't move here.

( I'm ignoring radical Islamic groups for the moment, because they represent such a small % of people that they should not really be considered when discussing this topic.)

Fair play, perfect way to integrate into another country. I would do the same IF I ever emigrated.

but who do you support in cricket :p

We buy our vegetables from Sainsbury's :p

My parents aren't really religious, that stems from my grandparents to be honest. They're of different faiths.

I was an England 'follower' until about 2008 or so. In the sense that I watched the 2003 and 2005 ashes and was happy when England played well. Then I learnt a HUGE amount about cricket in a year, and converted to Dravidism :p

In all fairness, Dimple has a point. Let's not lose the moral high ground.
