*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

That has to be the worst scheme (almost illegal) I have ever heard off.

If I'm parting with £45 for a pre-order I want the same as the man before me. Otherwise they might as well say £45 gets 5 days, £44 gets 4 days and so on.

Quote from SWTOR Pre-Order FAQ "Pre-ordering also ensures that you may be granted Early Game Access before the Game’s official release". Wow, I'm definitely pre-ordering now so that I may, or may not, get early access.

Game Companies really are taking the p£$s nowadays.

As it happens I have pre-ordered, just because I always do and cant be bothered hoping the post man will turn up on time.

The early access is a gift, be thankful they give you anything at all. By all right they could force all users to wait until the day of release but instead are giving you up to 5 days free play time plus the staggered early access means that the game servers should be much more stable and less crowded in the early zones than other MMOs on release.

It was annouced at the start of pre-order that when you put in your code it'll be first come first served in the early access so you knew exactly what sort of free bonus you was getting.

I have just pre-ordered, should i get an email with a code straight away? because i haven't yet.

It depends on where you pre-ordered from. On amazon.co.uk I got my code 30 seconds after receiving the automated confirmation email. Some other companies take longer.

Seeing how well the beta went i wouldnt be surprised if they let all pre-orders in at the same time or over 2 days tops. They dont seem to have any balancing issues.

I'm more than aware having read the pre-order FAQ's way back of what the bonus was. A lot of people aren't though as can be seen from the questions on the forum. Potentially they will pre-order believing they will start 5 days early and really only get 1. I know it is there own fault but how many people really look at FAQ's / the small print?

As for being thankful that they give me anything at all  I'll have to dwell on that one at the pub tonight. I just felt that two people purchasing the game prior to release for the same price should get the same bonus, regardless of it being 1 month or 2 months prior to the start date. Just my two pence worth :)

I certainly can appreciate the staggered access effect on servers however this weekend went exceptionally well from what I have experienced.

Scrap all early access and give every one a small in game 'Mr Chilly' pet or something:) Or some other tat like a limited edition pair of speedo's.

They already do give an ingame item for pre-orders, the Black with yellow glow colour crystal.

Two people who pre-order the game months apart get the exact same game, delivered on most likely the exact same day. It is not harming anyone that they give loyal fans who pre-ordered sooner slightly more head start time (Which considering the lifetime of an MMO is an insignificant difference), and as you said yourself they have fully explained from the start that pre-orders will not all get the same amount of early access time. And when they recently announced that the early access will be 5 days they did specify that it would be 'UP TO', not exactly.

To me complaining about how much early access people get is like the people who complain about the price of something they purchased the day after a deal ended, knowing full well the end date of a deal (like some people do on steam).

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, I'm just going to say that the devs are giving away this extra pre-order stuff for free that has no real long time advantages to players who take advantage of it (so it's not unfair/unbalancing), and potentially significant short time playability advantages for all players (due to staggered entry into servers), so just be happy about it or ignore it, there's not need to say they are taking the **** or its the worst scheme ever.

Does anyone know whether you get your pre-order code regardless of who you order it with? There are only about 5 shops on the official swtor page, but lots more shops you can pre-order at.

I'm just paranoid about not getting my code.

Well it could, it probably wont have as much as 5million... but it definitely could

No, really, it couldn't.

It'll be a popular game at launch no doubt, and probably will have the highest number of launch subscribers in an MMO, but that number will not be 5 million or anywhere near it. There isn't 5 million MMO players total in the regions that TOR is launching in initially.

I'd say somewhere in the region of 2 millions if it's lucky. Which will still smash the number of launch players of any other MMO.

TOR will have a lot more people at launch than we've seen over the last weekend or so, a lot of people that are buying it won't be interested in a beta, or even know about it.

5 million? Absolutely no chance. The servers wouldn't be able to support anything close to this number and that is way too optimistic.

I think realistically, over the first couple of days, there could be around 1 million people trying to get on, but I can't see it being many more than that.

well it could, there are what, 7billion people in the world - so it could have 5million - we all know it wont - but it's not in the reams of out right impossibility :D

Just finished Esseles, first falshpoint and good way to end a really good beta :)

Just waiting on launch now and think it will be even more enjoyable then as I can play as part of a guild and enjoy the grouping more!
