***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Done the same, spoke to "Danny" who first said the phone is out of stock, then said it's in stock. He then said it says out of stock on my order but in stock on system. I asked if I'd get it for Wednesday and he said yes.

Here's hoping! :)

Good to hear someone else has been told the same thing. Fingers crossed for Wednesday then :)

Ok, after a week of use and testing it over evenings. Positives and negatives are as follows.

Positives:

- Very smooth pretty much everywhere.
- Much improved browser although can suffer on poorly optimised sites. It seems to take a larger hit than the iphone.
- Gorgeous screen and Pentile screen is only distracting when text would be too small for a sane person to be reading anyway.
- Brilliant idle battery life.
- ICS still has a few quirks but it has good improvements everywhere. Resizeable widgets can be fairly useful. Keyboard is very good and I don't see an absolute need to use something like thumb keyboard. Data management is useful if you don't have lots of data. Better stock camera app. Folders save a lot of time. Etc.
- The phone is stunning, not too large and I can't even notice the 25g+ difference this has on an i9000.
- HSPA+ provides a nice boost where a cell tower isn't saturated.

Negatives:

- Battery life with screen on (at similar brightness levels) isn't as good as my old i9000. A fair bit worse I'd say.
- Auto-brightness is rubbish.
- I'm not very pleased with the pink tint effect I get. I know its due to the pentile layout, but it seems a lot worse than my i9000 possibly aggravated by me having to use lower brightness levels to maintain battery life.
- Quirks with ICS, but those aren't really long term problems.
- Camera is very underwhelming. Still shots are acceptable (ultimately you have to compare with 4S and it simply isn't as good). Video at 1080p is unusable @ 24fps. 720p @ 30fps is decent enough. The flash is pretty good but I'm coming from i9000 which had no flash!

Apart from the camera, I'm happy I got the Galaxy Nexus.

Deal was £26 x 18 months on vodafone (100mins/500txts/250mb) with £78 cashback via redemption and £50 via topcashback. Phone was free.

Thats a great deal, how did you get that price?

I initially ordered a GS2 on that deal at dialaphone, worked out at something like £350 (total cost) and so I didn't think paying £500 upfront for GN was for me. However on seeing decent deals come out £30x18 + £60 for phone at buymobilephones, I decided to cancel it, literally the same day of the order. However dialaphone were willing to swap the phone and keep the deal. I was more than happy to accept.

Seems the o2 site has been mostly broken all day. They changed the style of the switch o2 account page earlier, since then I've not been able to access Myo2, instead it dropping me to the login, even though it says I'm logged in at top.

The page appears to have since been reversed and I can access Myo2, but all of the info is "Sorry about the delay. We're working on it now.". I just wanna see if they have shipped my phone! :(

EDIT: Site seems to be working now, so you should be able to order, though it's apparently still out of stock despite being told it'd be in today :(

I was able to log into myo2...

Anyhow. Spoke to my GF (she is with o2) and her contract expired in April(no one from o2 rang with any upgrade offers....so I will call them and try to upgrade her line and get nexus:) as she is on low price plan(simplicity) with nice loyalty discount, I want to keep it low and am willing to pay for the phone. Will see what they will say.

Hi all,

Does anyone know why there's a difference between the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Nexus? :)

Yeah the power circuit is different - this is because the draw from the total sum of the components (gps+720p screen+cpu) is larger than the SGS2 one so they used a different design. There's also differences in the cooling, the sgs2 can (rarely, don't get your knickers in a twist over the next sentence) overheat which was mostly obvious when the screen brightness wouldn't go upto max.

IIRC you can check on the charge circuit on 2.3 samsungs with *#*#4636#*#* > battery info but I have no idea if this is on the nexus sorry.

some folk on xda saying o2 will have the new batch tomorrow and with the resolved issues, how true that is i dont know, im tempted to return mine and do a 24 hour door step swap (which they do within the first 28 days) if true

Those same folk first said that in this thread :p

update from o2

right just spoke to o2 technical team. they are not due any new galaxy handsets with the volume bug fixed any time soon. He assured me he knew about the issue, they had all been briefed. they said no point swapping or sending the phone in for repair.

He also said that any new handsets would be shipped with the bug even if the fix came out tomorrow, and it would be down to the user to perform the OTA upgrade (once the patch is released)

My only option was to return the handset for a refund or different phone, which is not what i want at the moment.

so the story of them getting a 'new batch' in is a pure a internet rumour... sadly

Wahey, Buymobilephones have had a delivery of the Nexus and should be sedning them out today/tomorrow. Not sure whether the delivery is enough to cover all the back orders though

This isn't what i was told yesterday? I was told they have a new fixed batch and that I would recieve one tomorrow. I will most aggrieved if this turns out to be BS.
