***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

My experience hasn't had a chance to be sullied by this bug yet as they keep delaying my phone, lol. Hoping i'll love it from the moment i start using it. Here's hoping everyones phones are fixed soon!

Can you take a pic of case opening with phone fully inserted? :-)

How is it? Got one ordered, few days later though :-(

I like sleeve cases rather than placing phone bare in pocket because it limits friction wearing away the phone, and random bits in your pocket scratching it. Its probably not much of a problem in back pocket as it is front though...

Expensive but quality. :)

Cheers!

IMHO the phone is in the pouch the wrong way though :p I prefer to place it in the pouch as if it were a hat, not a sock. Reason being that ports are generally on the bottom so the device can be charged while in the pouch. Also, with it in the pouch this way, pulling the pouch off the phone, or letting it slide into the hand (when the case gets older ;)) it'll be the right way up! :)

Simulatorman, I take it you have one these phones?

What are your thoughts?

I'm trying to decide between another Android handset or an iPhone.

Found out how to remove the google seach bar widget.

settings>apps>all>google search>disable

But you can't use the space for anything else as it's used to remove apps/widgets.

Gave it a go. Think it looks a bit silly without the search bar and the massive gap at the top.

I haven't found the search bar getting in the way for me, I've actually found it useful.

Good find though.

Same, quickly reverted back. :p

Although if it was replaceable with other widgets I'd probably put something else there and only keep the google search bar on one home screen.

Yep if that was possible I'd probably do the same thing. Would be good to be able to use the extra space, but nevermind.

I'm glad the search bar can be disabled. I think that would've ended up being a pet hate of mine.

Battery life seems...acceptable as well. Would've preferred a longer time but it's rarely enough!

Just waiting for the volume bug to get an official fix now. I think i'll buy it after that!

What are currently the best places to get the phone sim free unlocked?

I’ve had mine since launch day. The screen is just gorgeous, it’s a great design, the phone is a good size and weight, battery life is excellent. There is no manufacturer bloatware as it is a pure Google experience. Compared with my previous phone (Nexus S) the camera/video is good and perfectly adequate for me. It is only 5MP but a higher megapixel count does not always bring better quality.

There is no external SD card slot so you are limited to about 13GB of internal storage, again not an issue but will be for some. ICS is a breath of fresh air and of course you will get updates before anyone else when they arrive. There is the GSM volume bug (fix on the way) but I’ve not experienced it.

Apart from a few minor OS niggles I don’t have anything to complain about in fact I’ve still got a big smile on my face which is here to stay for a long time to come.

I think it's the best Android phone out at the moment there are others who can comment on its choice rather than an iPhone.

So from me, very highly recommended.

Can absolutely second this. It's a brilliant phone - truly competitive with the iPhone and any other smartphone out there.

I compared this to my friend's iPhone during a family meal. I genuinely felt sorry for him with his tiny screen and static home screen. Poor boy!

Yeah, the iPhone really is starting to look dated. I guess we'll see something genuinely new next year, but for now things are moving on.
