any advice for a newbie?

hi all
thinking of buying a gaming bundle http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-063-OE

current 4 yr old rig is
packardbell i power x8620
asus board p5ne sli
q6600
psu corsair tx 850
msi gtx 560ti twin frozer
windows 7 32 bit upgraded from vista from mcrosoft website so no cd

will this be an easy swap, or what probs can I expect?

You need to check that your harddrives and optical drive are SATA and not IDE.

device manager says.....
disc drive is ST350083 OAS disc device
dvd drive is AD-5170A ATA device
IDE ATA/ATPI controllers
ATA channel 0
ATA channel 1
NVIDIA nforce serial ATA controller
NVIDIA nforce serial ATA controller
standard dual channel PCI IDE controller

would there be any around this?

open the case, does it have big 'fat' ribbons, or 'thin' cables(usually red) connected to the drives from the motherboard?

I'd suggest getting the parts seperatly rather than the bundle and save yourself £40-£50

then they're ide, new mb don't have the connectors only sata so you need new drives.

Double check the hard drive cables, just to be sure. A 4 year old rig should have sata cables for the hard drives by then, mine did anyway.

just had a poke around inside.....hard drive cable is SATA, DVD drive is IDE ribbon

Well thats just saved you £85.

Take the HDD away from the above, check to see how much room there is in your case from the CPU surface to the side panel to check the Cooler fits inside.
