The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

580 for a single hit?
I've got a long way to go, most single damage I can do at the moment is a superior ebony bow at 74 before enchantment. At level 30 now.

Oh well, looks like my time playing skyrim has come to an end. I was doing the final stormcloak quest and ran into a game breaking bug that stops me continuing, right at the very end of the stormcloak quest line :(

Whats the bug? And why does that mean your playing is over? Dont you have any other quest lines you can do?

I have to make a guy surrender, but nothing happens. Meaning I'm locked in castle dour. If I use the console to get out I can do other stuff, but anything involving the imperial legion, the stormcloaks or the whole of solitude is now impossible. so with 3 large parts of the game now no longer usable, I decided to just quit until the bug gets sorted or someone finds a workaround.

Yes. I think the base damage is around 300 and with perks, enchantments, etc goes up to 580.

I think this paralysis perk was a waste of slot tbh. Never had the chance to try it on anyone as they all die after a single hit.

No idea really because I've not done that quest line, but wouldn't that normally be achieved by beating him senseless but not killing him, then sheathing your weapon & talking to him? Apologies if you've already tried this of course :)

Had an issue last night when I tried to start up. My TESV.exe had dissapeared from the steam file so I just kept looping on the startup menu. Ran integrity checker which came up ok but then it kick started the update which sorted me out. Only extra thing I'm running is the SBL thing for playing in windowed mode properly

How is the damage so high on a single weapon!? I have 100% smithing and only get 100 damage (once upgraded to legendary), and that's on a two hander!

The guy is essential so impossible to kill, I beat him until he goes to the ground but after than he can't be talked to for some reason, and the stormcloak NPCs in the room with me (who just stood still with their weapons out but didn't attack) just talk to me with their generic responses.

The strength of your Smiting skills depends on Alchemy skills, which to an extend depend on Enchanting skills. So you need to master all 3 of them, with relevant perks. Then you can create an elixir of fortify smiting with 147% rating. I can go in more detail if you want me to

Crikey, highest one ive seen is 25% at a vendor..although creating something that epic surely is just too easy?

Vendors actually sell Elixir of Fortify Smiting which has 50%, There is Blacksmith's Philter which get 40% improvement too. I'm not sure if any of those are level dependant tho.

Iv'e never seen it for sale. I have found it a couple of times but cant remember where. You don't happen to know where it can be found do you? or are the potions placed randomly?

You can find a Blacksmith's Philter in that dungeon in Understone Keep in Markarth. It's in the first cavey bit where the spiders are, resting on top of a pillar in the room where you start out at the top with ramps going down. I waited a while (around 3 in-game days) before going into the Dwemer ruin section of that dungeon, and all the spiders and loot (including that potion) respawned.
