The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Encountered my first bug, Lydia is in constant block mode if she draws her weapon, tried an earlier save and she runs about fine with weapons drawn but I would lose 2 days worth of questing :(.

Other followers are fine but I have grown attached to Lydia :D

Anyone got any tips for weaponry? Also, is there a reason why I can't select certain perks, even if they're white, not grey?

I'm level 12 with my strongest weapon at only 21 dmg. I get my ass handed to me all the time.

As for weapons, if you use one handed the mace of Molag Bal is probably the best early level weapon you are going to find. It is in the abandoned house in Marakht and the quest is given to you buy the guy who stands in front. Very difficult to upgrade to Legendary but likely by the time you need to make this upgrade you'll be able to craft your own weapons. Also to have a high damage rating make sure you are leveling up your one handed perks.

On the second question: Doe it say anything on the top right when you click the enchant button?

I'm at the top of the mountain talking to Paarhurnax but only level 13! (Main quest line called Elder Knowledge)

I'm wearing really crappy gear and using a boring warhammer. Any advise on how to spruce the game up a bit?

I would like to start making my own armor, does this mean I have to invest all my points in smithing? How do I actually go about smithing!?

Nope. I'm only level 19 Smithing, trying to use the first smithing perk and it won't do anything :(
I'm not sure i understood correctly - You are lvl 19 in Smiting and trying to upgrade a weapon or an armour? When you try to upgrade even though it is white (ie active) nothing happens. Is that correct?

the best way by far to level smiting is by making iron daggers. They only cost 1 leather strip and iron ingot. Then you can enchant that dagger (absorb has pretty high value rating) and flog it to a merchant making mint from it. Use the money to buy more petty soul gems so you can enchant the next one etc, etc. This way you bump up not only smiting but enchanting as well. Good to note is that the size of the soul gem used in enchanting does not have a relation to the amount level you gain per individual enchant.

make your leather strips from leather or hide on the leather rack but buy ingots from vendors as they are a bit more difficult to find. If you run out of money (which should not be the case if you enchant the daggers) just make leather bracers for 1 leather and 2 leather strips

Thanks mate, is there somewhere in Whitehall that I can enchant on this daggers I just made?

Turns out I wasn't a high enough level, so I just made a load of daggers to level up a few nothces.

EDIT: Nope, smithing is now 25 and still can't select the first steel perk!!

Getting really sick of the constant CTDs

probably lacking the required skill needed to upgrade your weapon. You should be getting a message when you press e. It should be at the top left of the screen.
