power draw of 3 way gtx470 sli

i've just got hold of a third gtx470 to put in sli with my other 2.now is my corsair hx1000 going to be ok to run these on my system in my sig???

Tom's basically says that the worst case scenario is about 368w per card of the GTX 470, so in this case you wouldn't have enough grunt, however there might be some other and better case studies...

800W at stress with a more power hungry socket1366 based test system.

So you should be ok, just running your PSU at like 70-80% load.

I bet that includes the rest of the test system, so you cant just multiply by 3

With two in an i7 1366 setup im drawing 630w at the wall when gaming. Iirc, Mr may on here is running tri sli 470's on a corsair ax 1200w, (1366 as well) theese older setups are a bit more power hungrier than the new sb's.

I've got 4 running overclocked @ 100% load with a 970X running @ 4.2 at 100% load on a 1500W Silverstone PSU quite happily.

It reckons about 750-790W so you should be fine with a 1KW one

Max i've got from my setup is 600W

Max ive ever hit was 860w, (850w corsair hx). But then i was running prime and furmark at the same time.

mind you is that the x2 500W corsair power supply? in which case youll want two cards on one rail and the other card + system on the other rail?

I believe the hx1000 is 2x500w psu's in one. So you have to try and split the load between each 500w rail.
