Bethesda need to get there fingers out of there....!!!

I paid for it Via steam but im still using the Razor1911 version..
Why ?

No forced updates (that break your game)
No need for steam running
Actually had the game before 11.11.11 (by 2days)
I dont really care for "steam achievements"

Only bug ive had so far
was not being able to use Mouse for the inv/perk windows
(but a patch was out asap for that lol)

What im saying is With all the complaints from the main thread
Where X patch breaking Y Save or Z Feature

Im glad im not playing through steam

Snow coming through the brick walls my arse!
The other day I read a book that had a speck of dirt right at the top of page 7, at least 1 mm across. Completely ruined it for me.

Actually, I've seen this in certain outdoors towers and structures, but I didn't throw down my mouse and have a tantrum over how the immersion was ruined.

Bottom line is that it's one of the best games I've played in recent years. Elder Scrolls games have, as has been mentioned previously, always been buggy as SiN (lol retro game pun) on release, but they've always been so huge and engaging that fans have been happy to patch the hell out of it themselves. There are so few series that continue to give so much in each installment that it's a small price to pay. I'd much rather have a succession of buggy games in a series as gold standard as TES than play a perfectly bug-free repeat of the same game year after year. CoD is the go-to example of this - recent games are put together very well because they've had many, many years to polish that particular turd to a brilliant shine.

Any game should be considered as a whole package and judged by its net quality, and Skyrim stands head and shoulders above the competition. It's one of the best games I've ever played, sin cera, and the next 6 months of patches, bug fixes and mods can only improve on an amazing product.

TL;DR:

OP is wrong. Also, THEIR fingers. For the love of God, you used a pair of homophones in teh same sentence whose meanings completely digress, and still managed to get it wrong. That's quite a fail.

I'd take a horribly broken Elder Scrolls game over any other title.

+1.

Sorry that you are having problems with it, but don't assume everyone else is.

Also, i am slightly annoyed with the myth that we will have to wait for the modders to "fix" the game, they create some amazing stuff, but the bugfixes and unnoficial patches are almost always more trouble than they are worth.

I don't quite agree with the OP in general but, most of his rage seems to be aimed at the latest patch making the game all but unplayable for many people.

So why are so many people spouting crap about 100 hours this, and its fine? You haven't played 100 hours since the patch, and the patch is said for MANY people to do things like cause dragons to fly backwards, magic resist isn't working and some armour stats aren't working. Meaning you can be in a fight with a dragon that flies backwards and you can't resist any of its damage, that is fairly game breaking.

Someone mentioned having a steam copy buy playing a cracked copy. This is one of my bug bears with Steam, forced updates, that's all well and good for simplicity, but what if you don't want to be a beta tester for new updates as MANY companies rush out new untested patches that can ruin your game. I don't like how steam has complete control, afaik the patch has been pulled hasn't it, it was so bad, which is fine if you didn't happen to play for a while when the patch was available, but likely means you're stuck with reinstalling or the stupid patched game on steam if you did play when it was available.

The only thing the patch broke for me was the LAA patch, I was getting constant crashes after the 1.2 patch until i reapplied the LAA patch, since then it has been fine. Some people just seem to be unlucky getting all these bugs, though i imagine half of them to quite a bit of exaggerating.

The updates aren't forced they're automatic, but you can turn automatic updating/patches off if it's a problem for you.

Skyrim has its glitches but I found it to be in much better shape than Oblivion was at launch. It's the best PC game in years and I can easily forgive its faults especially when Bethesda is working to patch them.

I haven't bought the game yet but from what i've seen the graphics are a bit disappointing, i don't know whether it's the lighting or textures or both but everything looks a bit dull and flat, nothing really pops, it all just blends together like in older games.

Im guessing consoles are to blame for the lack of progress and polish, maybe the next generation things will move on?

GOTY for me, 128hrs havent finish it, done 357 quest lol, there are couple bugs i notice, no big deal, i happu woth the game :)

No, they are fantastic. Game looks beautiful

I may not have bought it yet because im waiting to upgrade and knew it would have issues but i have seen a few hd videos of the pc version at high settings and it looks just as i said, dull and flat, inside areas aren't so bad as there tends to be more lighting and shadow but outside and in caves don't appear to be much better than previous games, i think it's the engine it just doesn't have nice lighting and shadow, add that to low resolution textures and it's a disappointment.

Hopefully by the time i get it there will be some high res texture packs but quality mods often take a year to become decent covering most stuff.

There are already good texture packs(though there will be better ones, they are a bit of a muddle atm) and the Enhanced Shaders and Post-Processing Injectors make the game look incredible.
I think vanilla looked pretty good anyway, but with a few tweaks and textures the game is very beautiful indeed.

EDIT- what i meant to say about the texture packs is taht although the improvements do look a lot better, atm you have to download about 6-7 different packs to cover different things like roads/water etc. Also everyone seems to be trying to outdo one another as well so the "real" quality texture packs haven't been identified yet.

I'd have to say that it's a stunning game. BF3 has been well and truely shelved for this one. Epic in its scope and very well balanced. Most enjoyable IMO.
