Bethesda need to get there fingers out of there....!!!

Graphics obsessives kinda remind me of this:

OMFG Beththeda these shadows are HORRENDOUS, how could you release a game with these textures?!

:p

Some people should try playing Daggerfall. Now THERE was a game full of bugs that had you staring annoying at DOS regularly. I remember one save game where if I walked left around a house it would crash every single time in the same spot yet walking around the house the other way was fine.

I'm lucky that my problems with Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim have all been minimal so far: Fallout 3 required a sound-related DLL to stop a BSOD in one area, I had no problems in NV and in Skyrim I suffer from the occasional CTD.

That said, you must know what you're getting with Bethesda and making an open-world game where they are trying to get NPCs to live properly and go about their business while animals attack each other and all of that there are going to be bugs. Have they made mistakes with some of the patches? Of course. Is it acceptable? No. Is it understandable to some degree? Yes. Are they lazy? No.

I'm complaining about the textures because some of them are genuinely great, but others are awful and would look out of place in Morrowind, never mind Skyrim.

It doesn't look like it's a case of "nit picking" either, some of the textures look so bad that it looks like a mistake that they used them. Surely the original texture they created would have been far higher res in the first place?

The ones I'm thinking of mainly are food and furniture textures.

They make great games yet everyone of them is buggy. But tbh its worth it even with all the bugs because no1 makes rpg games as good as them simply they have no competition.

I do feel they have droped the ball on skyrim but not because of the bugs I expected them and after playing over 100 hours on the game I feel it is not as good as oblivion or morrowind. But it kept me playing over a 100 hours so they still got a dam good game.

Even now Oblivion and morrowind with all the official patches and unofficial patches are still buggy but they are great games. Stop expecting developers to roll out perfect games it will never happen bugs will always develop and a game of skyrims size expect a few.

This mod doesn't match the Skyrim's style at all. It's horrible IMO.

Higher-Poly Skyrim to increase the roundness of some food.

High Quality Food and Ingredients to increase detail and textures

Hybrid Hires Plants and Herbs Retexture
for the flora.

iCCC ENB Natural Shader Injector to get rid of the horrible tint, improve gamma and saturation. A bit of post-process sharpening added to all objects too.

EDIT: and HD Furniture and barrels.

I'm fine with the bugs because it meant not waiting another 3 years for the thing, nature of the beast I am afraid, I'm amazed people are even surprised like they didn't know what they were getting into.

I disagree, it is definitely an improvement. Things do look a little bit too clean and maybe it makes the odd item look a little out of place but i have noticed the improvement more than that tbh. I wouldn't play without it now, even if i would prefer a slight tweak to make surfaces appear more natural.

High quality food and ingredients is excellent as well.

Also couldn't get on with that shader config either.

That texture pack should be called "IKEA HD" tbf.

I've had a shed load of issues with skyrim, still managed to rack up around 35 hours so far however. Find a problem, fire it into that wonderful thing called google and get a solution, not so hard is it?

My latest 'fix' I found was the random crash to desktop with no error, changing the system audio mixing to 441khz fixed that. To be fair the majority of other problems I hit was down to AMD's drivers, to which the fallout3.exe or .dll fix sorted until the 11.11 release.

Sure I hit the odd graphical glitch (I had a random pink tree yesterday :p) but I'm that immersed in everything else that is happening that its not all that relevant.

And if 5 years of development is lazy then I'm guessing we are yet to see a game developed with effort. Takes this years GOTY by a long shot.

It's inevitable, that as games become more demanding and bigger, that there will be more mistakes and glitches. The Elder Scrolls and the Fallouts are amazing games, don't see how you can give of because of a few glitches.

I really enjoyed playing it until I found 4 (to date) quests which bug if you have the item in your inventory (including something as commonplace as briar heart). Dragons following me all over the place, dropping out of the sky whenever I fast travel (fixed as of last patch thankfully). NPC's being able to spot me stealing through walls or on a couple of occasions through the floor and a couple of rooms. I frequently get textureless models or missing textures, causing me to either have no walls at all or weird blobby lilac surfaces until I reload the game. Any time you place items on a rack, armour mannequin or wall plaque, they end up all over the place, and 2 of my daedric items have now fallen through the floor of my house because of it (Mace of Molag Bal and Ebony Sword). Then there's the crashes and the shoddy interface...

I've applied the AMD dll, changed the sound settings to 44100, updated drivers, reinstalled and I still get more bugs and crashes than I'm prepared to put up with. The game is just plain buggy, and buggy to a level where I just plain can't immerse myself in it. I play it like a hack and slash because I can't get a feeling for anyone in game when I'm facing *something* going wrong within an hour or two worth of play.

I just love how everyone's jumped on the OP because he's complaining about some valid points. Fair enough graphics and shadow quality doesn't bother me at all, but as I said above, there's plenty of other issues that do ruin the game for me.
