Phenom's disappearing from online stores

Not talking about the socket, More about the CPUs available on that socket. Who would build a gaming PC around a FM1 socket?

anyone wanting a cheap, highly clockable quad-core (Athlon II X4 FM1 ~£60) on a nice featured micro ATX board running a single graphics card? doesn't sound like such a bad option in that market, its either that or a more expensive I3.

It's still a big step backwards compared to Phenom.

Granted it's a sub-£100 quad core but CPU performance is a lot lower than Phenom (since it's basically a lower clocked Athlon) and the motherboards are quite basic by comparison.

The onboard GPU is the stand out feature of the Llano range, if you're not going to use it then you'd may as well just grab a second hand Athlon/Phenom and 990FX.

The 960T is near enough the same thing, go buy one and try unlocking it, you might even end up with a sub-£100 hex core processor.

It's still a Phenom II, and won't be manufactured anymore.

Intel need to release a 2120K under 100 to take advantage of AMD's blunder with the FX4.

It was between the Phenom II and i3 of which way to go with my build soon, but I decided i3 was the way to go for me, so I could upgrade to Ivy or i5.

Shame the Phenom's are going though :(

The 960T is a superb buy if they are still available. A 6 core cpu at 4ghz for less than a hundred quid is amazing value.

We're going to be stuck with the choice between i3 and FX4 at the £100 mark soon, a dual core with HT versus a quad core that performs like a dual core, only when highly overclocked, and when games uses all four cores... no more great value quads.
Fixed it for you :p

Yea, I agree with some others here...really want a i3 2100K/2120K for £100 range :(

yeah not saying I would personally go for FM1, especially with FM2 and Trinity mere months away, but its a valid option non the less. also sure its a lower clocked Athlon II by default, but they are apparently great clockers at quite low voltages. so with some good cooling and a good voltage bump they might clock like mad, and FM1 motherboards aren't anything special, but they are also nothing bad, I personally prefer my motherboards to be filled with crap that I don't need or want.

processor socket, ram slots, PCI-E slot and PCI-E peripheral slot, nice layout, couple of USB ports and what more do 99% of people need?

Then the Phenom II would probably crap out before your 7950 :p

Possibly at sub 1920x1080 resolutions, but I don't game at less than that ^_^

Also we have no idea what its going to be like :>

I really cba to spend loads on my PC these days...

When I can get an 8-core ivybridge for £100 let me know xD
