CS:GO Beta Starting Today

Friend of mine did a vid, mainly for people who never heard of CS (wtf!) before. Like if you think it deserves it.

Thanks.

As for this beta, its nice but way too buggy to fully enjoy it. I get killed by invisible players and the hit detection sometimes i think is off.

well this video fails from the get go valve didnt make the mod in 1999

Is this likely to even make it out of the block on consoles? I mean, the concept of dieing and having to wait until the next round rather then just respawning within seconds is going to be completely alien to current console kiddies :)

And for the very reason it was a mod first made by different people (only one of which is involved now I believe?) is the downfall of CS in my opinion. Valve got hold of it and molded it into what they thought was best. Newer players to the game starting with CS:Source will not understand as they were never part of the community or playing the versions that started it off. Hard to explain, but this is one of the reasons why you see so many old cs players having a bit of a moan, including myself from time to time.

Imagine your favourite game being slowly stripped away and replaced with something else. Forget 1.6 for a moment, all the versions before it are not supported anymore nor playable online, so those versions that many of us loved are long gone with no option but to play what we're given. 1.6 is OK, but too many people forget that even 1.6 is far from perfect. Remember the shambles that it was when it first appeared compared to 1.5? People have accepted it because they have no other choice. 1.5 was practically perfect at the time and Valve tried to make it more fancy. Shield anyone? Pointless rain on Aztec? lol, people forget. The same can be said for versions even before 1.5. But in my opinion 1.5 was more rounded gameplay wise. CS has been screwed up for a long time before CS:Source even came along. Trouble is people forget that detail because either they have never known better or have simply forgotten over the years.

CS is not the same game it once was and I am not sure it is for the better at all.

Agree with this, CS for me started slowly going downhill after 1.5

The hit reg in CSS really gets my goat.

Going back and playing it now hurts my brain :(

I still think they did a better job with CSS than they did with DoD:S. Original Day of Defeat was amazing and it's own game, the source version just turned it into a mediocre ww2 shooter.

The best CS was at beta and it became way more sensible and refined after that. At some fatal point they loaded in big amounts of lag and that was the end of a legend.
I only play 1 server in css now because all of the others lag out even thats not perfect

The hit reg in CSS really gets my goat.

The reg is extremely easy. I can go full auto on 30 rounds of the AK and get 3 headshots, cs was like darts and css is like pinball - you are going to hit something. The lag is something else, have net_graph 3 on

no it's a different gun and doesn't have a silencer aswell as the m4

yes it is

The devs said in the Q&A it handles and plays exactly the same as the USP in previous games.

The silencers were ditched after feedback they were pointless.

it handles nothing like a usp since it's pretty useless right now in cs:go I found the glock is much better on the other hand and the deagle is a boss gun as usual

Really hope it gets opened up to more users soon, really want to play this, been waiting for a new cs for ages!

It actually is though. VALVe intend for this game to bridge the 1.6 and CSS players together.

Whether that will actually work, im unsure. :p

Well its not then is it.

New ground between 1.6 and CSS players on both PC and consoles is not the same market as 1.6 and earlier PC players from over a decade ago.

If you are a die hard pre 1.6 player this game hasn't been designed to 100% please your wants, so don't expect to be 100% happy with it.

The idea that Valve have somehow taken 'your' game from the ~2000 era and 'made it worse' is just narrow sighted. What they have done, is made it different. And why shouldn't they? The games market is very different now to how it was 10 years ago.

TBH, the market is short a well supported team based round based FPS. There are to many deathmatch style games around that just promote running in all guns blazing tactics. People should be welcoming the return of this style of game, not spending all their time with a fine tooth comb trying to find the tiniest thing they don't like to complain about.

People no longer want a game they have to work at to get good at.
They want a simple pick up and play for an hour game. No complex team work, no recoil control. Just aim in the general area with a good percentage of luck headshots...source was the bridge to MW2/BO. Keep these people happy for 2 months and the game is a great success!!!! Then release a new map pack or new revamped game and get all the muppets to buy it again.
Old school cs fun is dying slowly.

Well it would be, if valve weren't bucking the trend by releasing global offensive.

As already said though, regardless of how good it is, plenty f players will refuse to play it simply because it's different, even with 1.6 hit boxes and gun handling

CS 1.5/1.6 was the pinnacle of CS gaming. Where you actually got respect if you had a good K/D Ratio because it took SKILL to get there. Unlike many of todays games (COD, looking at you) where it's all about the camping and getting the best guns/buffs/killstreaks.

CS is supposed to be pure. No gimmicks. Just guns, teamplay and custom maps. You couldn't camp in CS unless you could kill but likewise you couldnt run about the shop like a nutter because you would get picked off. That's what CS was always good at. If you were crap, you were crap! You couldn't lead one game and then get no kills the next or be top of the leaderboard because an NPC chopper killed half of the team. It was also good because death had a consequence. No money, No Guns, No instant respawns.

If you're like me you get upset because all you want is a clean, pure game with no gimmicks, Decent netcode, hitboxes that register and the only in-game customisation is deciding what custom spray you're going to use. I used to play CS for hours and have fun. With most modern games I get frustrated.
