Its time for the BBC to sack Clarkson?

He should be told to "do one".

Look what happened with Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross and what they did was less offensive IMO.

Why are you so concerned with what bothers other poeple?

Well it is a bit OTT that the poster could watch Top Gear (a programme he must have loved even though he is an idiot petrol head like me) and then he stops because of a throwaway remark from a controversial character who must have made much worse comments on the show.

There are rules in broadcasting that have to be followed. The rules were broken.

Then go after the script writers and producers who purposely wrote the question knowing they would get a rise out of him.
If you put somebody on TV with tourettes you must expect that they will swear and you don't go moaning about it.

It's a joke. If you don't like him then don't watch him, it really is that simple.

Personally I think the people who complained need to grow up and get a life.

I get offended by the InjuryLawyers4U adverts but I'm not pathetic enough to write a letter of complaint.

Another poster who hasn't watched the full video of Clarkson.
Why bother typing if you can't be arsed to watch it all?

I too think Clarkson is a knob but if you watch the full video you will understand why he said it.

You don't think JC should be sacked...

I do. 7pm primetime viewing is not a place for remarks of this nature regardless of context.

What rules of broadcasting do you speak of.He wasn't showing execution. He was joking about execution. "Remarks of this nature" on the other hand are regularly featured in prime time television, with background footages often provided via news channels, and it's not like war, crime or murder mystery dramas aren't featured in prime time slots either.

Please give me a valid reason why you think its ok...? And saying it was a joke is not valid....as people are not allowed to tell offensive jokes at this time on TV.

Offensive is the key word. It's only offensive because you hate the guy. You hate him so much in fact, that you are willing to clutch at strawman of an "offence" and make a 6 page machine gun turret defence stand on a complete non issue.
It's the type of hatred we all understand and almost all of us do hold such hate blindly against somebody in our life. The special level of hate. For me such person is Ken Livingstone - a ruthless, commie four letter c word on the best of his days, but his mayoral actions dictated by blind hate of motorists actually had an impact on my professional life and accumulated into thousands of pounds robbed by his cronies from my pocket.
So you see, I actually have a reason to hate the guy, to the point that I would actually literally like to see him shot (albeit with an outlet of a sewage pumping cistern) in front of whoever serves in his lonely life as the next of kin (did I just say that on a prime time internet?!).

But your hate of Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson that would move you to start an internet thread where you created the whole scenario of being forced to explain to your kids what sense of humour is - that is kind of hard to relate to.

Not the least because we know now it's unlikely to have ever taken place, as Jezza was merely providing "balanced side" to his primary punch line in a joke, and served the shooting scenario as imaginary point of view of hardened private sector workoholics that can't stand public sector strikes like myself - I'm purely speculating - you would know this if you actually watched the program at the time, more so if you had to explain it to anyone with you at the time.

There are so many better reasons to actively hate Jeremy and try to move his programs from public to private TV - his lifestyle choices, advertising and self advertising films, books through public sponsored media, biased car reviews and/ or even promotion of car manufacturers with vested interests. They even nearly lost one presenter monkeying around for lolz. You don't get better ammo than that. But this strike joke isn't one of them. It's a waste cause.

It's such a straw man that even the most hatred fuelled newspapers decided not to fuel this fire. Even the ones that jumped on every "joke gate" before. There are no wheels to propel this cart, it will not ram any doors. If you truly hate Jezza and want him gone Don't go with it, don't promote it, or the next time Jeremy does or says something genuine P45 worthy no one will take your brigade seriously.

Ken Livingstone is number 2 for me. Number 1 is Bob Crowe, i will quite literately dance on his grave when he dies.

Don't worry folks, Top Gear will still air at Christmas as usual, Clarkson will still be around in six months, and easyrider will have found someone else to rant about. :)

It's probably been said already in this thread, I haven't read it all. What a load of nonsense this debate is. The irony in the lobbyists demands are certainly not lost on me (group action to protect pensions and jobs calling for the job of another).

Clarkson's a ****** so what's new? It's not the first nor likely to be the last time he makes a statement of the sort reaffirming this. As for the actual statement, if it was taken in isolation then there may be a case to argue however it has to be taken within the full context therefore it was quite clearly black humour, not my cuppa tea but black humour none the less. I don't agree with the essence of his word play but would defend his right to do so. It's about time the people complaining about it get a grip.

No doubt Clarkson is extremely happy he went on the 'goon show' im sure he's planning what supercar to get with the money that will roll in from sales.

No.

lots of shows before the watershed have adult themes anyway, was gobsmacked the producer told the presenters to apologise for his jokes.
one show = playschool.

the entire one show should ummm was gonna say nuked but you cant say stuff like that these days coz morons take you literally, sooo errr just sack all of em, stupid program!

but nuke come dancing!!! arrgghh!

Umm no.

Jeremy Clarkson is a legend and Top Gear is the greatest TV show in the world.

Also, Jeremy Clarkson is an international icon for the BBC. There's only one show the BBC is most internationally recognised for and it's not the Six O'Clock News or Antiques Roadshow.

The news broadcasts, and the BBC news brand is much bigger than top gear.
